A number of paintings hang on the wall of the corridor leading to the Presiden­tial Conference Room: Győző Concha and Pál Gyulai by Ede Balló, Jenő Balogh by Oszkár Glatz (1872-1958), Géza Mihalovich by Andor Boruth, László Szalay by Bertalan Székely, Lőrinc Tóth by József Prohászka (1885—1964), Kálmán Thaly, Gusztáv Heinrich, Albin Csáky and Sámuel Brassai all four by Andor Bo­ruth, Árpád Bérezik by Menyhért Both (1857-1916), György Volf by Antal Zil­zer (1860-1921), András Fáy by Miklós Barabás, József Dessewffy (a copy), Aurél Ignác Fessler by János Rombauer (1782—1849), Gyula Pauler by Imre Ré­vész (1859-1945), Miklós Jósika by Lajos Ábrányi (1849-1901), Ferenc Deák by Miklós Barabás, Gábor Döbrentei by Mihály Kovács, Farkas Bolyai by Lajos Thanhoffer (1843—1909), and Lajos Lóczy by Antal Meggyesi Schwartz. János Rombauer of Lőcse worked in Northern Hungary but meanwhile spent almost 20 years in Russia. There he met with the famous historian, Aurél Ignác Fessler, whose portrait he painted and brought back home with him. This brilliant por­trait is one of the masterpieces in Rombauer's oeuvre. The paintings decorating the Presidential Conference Room are the following: Endre Hőgyes by Jenő Jandrassik (1860—1919), Ferenc Bene by Lajos Györ­gyi-Giergl (1821 — 1863), Kálmán Mikszáth by Endre Komáromi-Kacz (1880— 1969), Mihály Horváth by Nándor Rákosi (1832-1884), Lajos Ilosvai by Károly Lotz, József Eötvös by Bertalan Székely, Gyula Kautz by György Vastagh, Károly Than by Ede Balló, József Budenz by Aladár Körösfői-Kriesch (1863—1920), Pál Hunfalvy bv Géza Biczó, Lajos Markusovszky by Jenő Jendrassik, János Arany by Miklós Barabás, Károly Kisfaludy (a copy), Mór Jókai (Ede Balló's copy after the original by Lipót Horovitz), Petőfi in Debrecen by Soma Orlai Petrich, Pál Szeme­re and Pál Almási Balogh by Mihály Kovács, Béla Fogarasi by Heinrich Vogeler (1872—1942), Károly Szász by Andor Boruth, Gábor Szarvas by Antal Zilzer, Fri­gyes Korányi, Sándor Korányi and Zsolt Beöthy, all three by Ede Balló, and Géza Entz by Antal Meggyesi Schwartz. 29
