BRIEF CURRICULUM VITAE 1894 He was born on January 17 in Újpest 1913 Studied at the College of Fine Arts with Károly Ferenczy 1914 Spent the summer in Nagybánya with the grant of the College Drafted for military service during World War I. 1917-1918 Spent his holiday in Nagybánya 1919 Left the Army and studied with István Réti Became involved in the reformism activity during the Soviet Republic and was compelled to leave the college after the fall of the attempt 1921 His first solo exhibition in the Ernst Museum of Budapest Recipient of the Prize of Distinction of the Pál Szinyei Merse Society which elected him to be a member 1924 Married and moved to Zebegény His second solo exhibition in the Ernst Museum 1925 Taught at a private school (Downtown Free School) 1929 Third solo exhibition at the Ernst Museum Received a scholarship to Rome but returned after a few months 1930 Founded his own free school 1933 Awarded the Small Golden Medal of the State 1937 Invited to be a professor of the College of Fine Arts Participated at several individual and collective shows between the two world wars 1939 Awarded the Big Golden Medal of the State 1941 Appointed to be a member of the Council for Grants and Scholarships Awarded the Corvinus Wreath Edited the book "Studying Visual Arts" whose chapters on drawing, painting in oil and tempera he wrote himself 1942 Painted fresco of the church of Győr-Nádorváros and fell severely ill 1943 Published his book "The Picture" 1944—1945 During the Nazi occupation and the siege of Budapest he gave shelter for refugees and forged documents for them with Iris son Commissioned to be representative of the National Assembly 1946 Received the Bronze Medal of Liberty 1947 Awarded the Bronze Order of Hungarian Liberty 1948 Successful at the Venice Biennial and the London Show of Hungarian Art 1949 Awarded the Silver Medal of the Kossuth Prize 1952 Artist of Merit 1953 Gouache Exhibition at the Adolf Fényes Showroom 1954 Retrospective show in the Ernst Museum Order of Labour 1956 Received the Janus Pannonius Medal and became a Distinguished Artist 1957 Painted a panneau on the history of the postal service for the Csepel Post Office A documentary movie made of him 1958 His health became so feeble that he had to quit teaching at the College of Fine Arts 1960 On August 30 died at home in Zebegény
