In these garden-districts particularly organized housing-communities were formel. 6. tableau: Development of the Labour Movement The Debrecen labour movement got under way from the society organi­zing, like the nation-wide movement. The friendly and the cultural societies were the first such organizations. They were followed by forming of special societies (trade unions). These constituted the basis of Hungarian Socialist Demokratie Party for­med in 1890. The workers celebrated May day in 1892 in our town for the first time, then in 1894 the Debrecen organization of the Socialist Demokratie Party was established in 1894. 7. tableau: Theatrical life in Debrecen The first stone theatre was built in our town in 1865. The prologue for the opening celebration was written by the best known writer of the age Mór Jókai, and it was performed by his wife Róza Labor­falvi — the one of the most popular actresses.
