Bodnár Mónika: Serényiek a népi emlékezetben régen és ma (Történetek és azok történeti, kultúrtörténeti háttere)

A few stories can be linked to the Serényi family only indirectly. One of these is about Mrs János Korponay (née Julianna Géczy), the "Woman in White of Lőcse", the other about Zsófia Bosnyák, Miháy's widow. The story dates from the period of religious unrest and recounts how the Catholics and the Protestants of Putnok divided up the bells between themselves in 1715, with the active help of Borbála Orlay, widow of András (ca. 1630-1688/89). Most anecdotes cast the Serényi family in a positive light, although some of the quoted stories put them in a negative role. Mónika Bodnár
