a long time. Ch. submuticus sensu auct. is identical with Ch. productus Herrich-Schaeffer, 1838 which is a frequent species in Europe; the true Ch. submuticus Wesmael is a fairly rare species, 1 have seen specimens from Belgium, Sweden, Hungary and Mongolia (Papp 1995: 121-125). — Localities: 1/1: 1 male: Bátorliget, nature reserved forest. 2 males: Dusnok. 1 male: Jászberény. 3 males: Kalocsa. 1 female: Kecskemét. 1 male: Siófok, Tóközpuszta. 1 female: Újszentmargita, nature reserved forest — II/l: 1 male: Hárskút. 1 female: Nyirád, Felsőnyirádi-erdő. 1 male: Tihany — II 1/5 (Transylvania): 1 male: Nagyenyed (= Aiud) — VI/1: 1 female: Komló, Mánfa — VI/1: 1 male: Magyaregres, taken from Angelica silvestris. 1 male: Somogyaszaló — V-VIII, taken frequently in August. Chelonus szepligetii Dalla Torre, 1898 (= Ch. rufiscapus Szépligeti, 1896, nec Provancher, 1886) — Since its description known only on the basis of the type-series (Szépligeti 1896a: 174); Szépligeti (1898a: 213 and 225) coupled it in his key to Ch. annulatus Nees. — Localities: II/l: 3 females (lectotype + 2 paralectotypes, in Budapest Museum, Hym. Typ. Nos 497-499): Budapest, Gellérthegy, 13 August 1895, leg. Szépligeti — VIII. Chelonus wesmaeli Curtis, 1837 (1= Ch. zimini Tobias, 1972) — Ch. wesmaeli known from England and Ch. zimini (a supposed synonym of Ch. wesmaeli) from Slovakia (Capek and Lukas 1989: 42) and Russia (Orenburg province: Tobias 1986a: 307) so far. New to the fauna of Hungary. — Localities: III: 1 male: Bátorliget, nature reserved forest. 1 female: Siófok, Tóközpuszta — II/l: 1 female: Pilisszentkereszt, Dobogókő — VI/2: 1 female: Magyaregres, taken from Angelica silvestris — VI—VIII. Microchelonus Szépligeti, 1908 Up to now 49 Microchelonus species are registered in the fauna of Hungary, this number takes 74.2% of the 66 species known from Europe. From among the 49 species 17 are new to the fauna of Hungary, they are as follows: M. arcuatilis, M. arnoldi, M. brevis, M. flavonaevulus, M. fumipennis, M. incisus, M. leucomaculus, M. mucronatus, M. nigritulus, M. rubriventris, M. rugicollis, M. striatiscuta, M. sub arcuatilis, M. subcaudatus, M. tauricus, M. tuberculiventris and M. vidcaniellae. Two species, M. elachistae and M. fischeri, were recently described by Tobias (1994) from Hungary too. The last survey of the European species of the genus Microchelonus was presented by Tobias (1986a: 317-335) and, subsequent to it, he increased our knowledge of this genus with adding further nine new Microchelonus species described from the European part of the former USSR. It seems reasonable to note that 104 new Microchelonus species were detected in the eastern Palaearctic Region (former USSR, Mongolia, Korea), the majority of the species has been described by Tobias during the last three decades. All in all 179 Microchelonus species are recorded in the Palaearctic Region so far. The stability of the generic features (female with 16 antennomeres, male carapace with an apical aperture) of several Microchelonus species display deviations (Papp 1995: 125-126, Tobias 1995: 38^10). In my paper (I.e.) the generic distinction of Mic-
