Summary

The authors compiled this bibliography on the basis of the data of these documents making use of the holdings of the Regional Collection of the Csorba Győző Library.

The authors made an attempt to list all the publications, periodicals and monographies dealing with the First World War and linked to Pécs as well as the diaries and memoirs of the solidiers from Pécs.

They did not collect the articles published during the war as the columns of regional newspapers between 1914 and 1918 were loud with the noise of the war. The survey of these numbers is an unavoidable task for the researchers of the era. They, however, did insert some of the more interesting articles of the Pécs press which have been published since the end of the war down to our days.

In the interwar period it was especially the relation of military operations, the reminiscence of war experience, and the respect for the heroes which was excercising the minds of the people. In the Socialist era references to labour movement were overemphasized. Our historians mainly dealt with the riot of the 6th infantry regiment whereas after the fall of Communism interest for economic and social history came into the foreground.

This bibliography aims at providing assistance for the monographic elaboration of the years of Pécs during WWI.
