The provenance of the arte­fact was indicated by the Fraknó inventory la­bel stuck to its back. The materialsforming the layers of the case Fabric used for tracing out the pattern: plain-weaved taffeta; warp and weft thread: skin-coloured silk Ground fabric: cherry-red, plain, short­napped velvet; warp and weft thread: silk Embroidery: padded raised embroidery Couching thread: Z-twist uncoloured cotton Metal thread used in the embroidery: thin silver-gilt wire, 5-6 strands twisted together Couching thread: yellow, Z-twist silk thread Outlining: cord made from silver-gilt wire Textile insets in the embroidery: silk fabric Warp thread: untwisted, beige silk, density: 64/cm Weft thread: green and yellow silk, density: 20/cm Description of the artefact The decorated front panel of the bow-case consists of embroidered velvet lined with leather, while its back panel is made from two types of leather. 4 ' Front and back were sewn together using long running stitch, after which the edges were trimmed using thin 1/1.
