Pannónia provide evidence for commercial relations between Italy and the Mediterranean areas and the Danubian provinces even in the second half of 4th century or at the beginning of the 5th century. Except a few vessels-considered as unique pieces- the import of pottery in the 4th century has been almost exclusively limited to this ware. The local workshops imitated the forms, sometimes also the manner and types of decoration of the imported African red spil wares.
