July 21, 1965 PAGE 5 William Penn Bosways Married 50 Years More than two hundred guests attended the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. John Bosway (Bozsvay), prominent Hungarian Ameri­cans in Cleveland, Ohio and members of Branch 14 in that city. The affair was a dinner given by their children at Cavalier Hall in nearby Maple Heights on April 27, 1965. The couple was married April 27, 1915 in St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, Murray City, Ohio. Mr. Bosway was born in Deregnyo, County of Zemplén, Hungary, and at the age of 5 came to America with his parents. Mrs. Bosway, the former Mary Toth, is a native of ó-Malomsok, County of Győr, Hungary, and was twelve years old when she ar­rived in McKeesport, Pa. The Bosways have lived in Cleve­land since 1919. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bosway: William, John, Frank, Betty Marotto, Mrs. William (Helen) Hall, and Mrs. James (Mildred) Mi­­nichbaur. There are nine grandchildren. Mr. Bosway has had a long and varied career in our As­sociation, locally and nation­ally. His services at Branch 14, Cleveland, Ohio, included the offices of treasurer, secre­tary, vice president and presi­dent. He was the first manager of the Verhovay home in Cleve­land. On the national level he was a member of the Board of Directors, Vice President, and he was Supreme President of the Verhovay Aid Association (later Verhovay Fraternal In­surance Association) from 1929-1931. He has been Con­vention Delegate repeatedly. Seme of the Branch 14 members who attended the golden wedding festivities for Mr. and Mrs. Bosway were: Dr. Andrew Kovach, Director, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Torda, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Semetko, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Galeo, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oravis, Divi­sion Manager and Mrs. John L. Balia. Our congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs Bosway. DOES HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF? Fantastic facts about the late President John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln were disclosed recently: 1. Both of these Presidents, Lincoln and Kennedy were con­cerned with the issue of civil rights. 2. Lincoln was elected in 1880 and Kennedy was elected 1960. 3. Both were slain on a Friday and in the presence of their wives. 4. Their successors, both named Johnson, were Southern Democrats and had previously served in the U S. Senate. 5. Andrew Johnson, was born in 1808, Lyndon B. Johnson was born in 1908. 6. John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839, Lee Harvey Oswald was born in 1939. 7. Both Booth and Oswald were slain before a trial could be held. 8. Booth and Oswald were both Southerners favoring un­popular ideas. 9. Both President’s wives lost children through death while residing in the White House. Buffalo Member Receives Degree Miss Cornelia M. B. Berde, daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Co­­loman Berde, officers at Branch 383, Buffalo, New York, re­ceived her Bachelor of Science degree from Rosary Hill Col­lege, Buffalo, New York, on May 30, 1965. Miss Berde is now in West Germany. She is one of the honored members, of a small group participating in the U. S. National Student Associa­tion of the American Chemis­try Student Delegation to Lin­dau for the Noble Prize Win­ners’ Conference The Berde family, including son George of the U. S. Air Force, are ail members of Branch 383 and are natives of Budapest, Hungary. New Jersey Member Receives Degree Alex J. Lakatos, son of Branch 51 (Passaic, N. J.) vice president and Mrs. Alexander Lakatos, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering on June 12, 1965 from Fairleigh Dickinson Uni­versity, Rutherford, N. J Before attending the univer­sity the youth studied at Don Bosco Technical High School for four years. He is now pursuing his pro­fession at General Precision, Inc., Wayne, N. J. Young Mr. Lakatos is fol­lowing in the footsteps of his parents who are active in the fraternal and social life of the Hungarian American^ in the Passaic area. He too is active in the affairs of St. Stephen’s Church in Passaic and in the programs of Branch 51. We add our congratulations and best wishes.
