/ I / PAGE 6 William Penn December 15, 1965 NEWS SCENE FROM BRANCH 14 CLEVELAND, OHIO Ex-Officers and Oldtimers Are Feted Our meeting in November was held the first Sunday, and at that time plans were made for the Children’s Christmas Party on December 12. On October 9 members and guests of the William Penn enjoyed Hungarian dancing and music at the Fall Festival. Traditional folk dances Happy birthday this month to Judy Paksi and John G. Balia. Members Mrs. Margaret Szabó and Joseph Barry passed away this month. Our sympathies to the be-Thirteen members were honored at the recent Annual 50-Year Membership Testimonial Dinner which was an impressive success. Our gratitude to all who attended this event, and our special thanks to those who worked directly to assure a grand event. District Manager Frank P. Dance, Branch 90 manager, was toastmaster. William Penn Directors at the affair were Stephen Lang, Jr. and Michael Hegedűs, Jr. Mr. Hegedűs spoke, urging the membership to carry on the true fraternal spirit of their forefathers. Some of the guests were Stephen Szemes and a group of members he headed from Philadelphia, Pa. and New Brunswick, N. J.; Mr. and Mrs. Geza Lang, Branch 98, Bethlehem, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Vayda, Branch 133, Phillipsburg, N. J.; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Sohonyai, Branch 216, Northampton, Pa.; John Fodor, Michael Holzer, Julius Tarsi, and Division Manager Ernest F. Kemenes from Philadelphia. * Hs * Eugene Bochniak, former Branch 90 member, recently moved to Wilmington, Delaware to accept a new position. Good luck. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. to the accompaniment of the Frank Borisz orchestra, were performed by four dancing groups under the direction on Muncy David. Mrs. David was surprised with several gifts presented to her by the dancers and the William Penn. Refreshments were served ly the Women’s Auxiliary of Branch 14. But none of them wrote less than a column about it.” In a double event program Branch 19, New Brunswick, New Jersey, paid tribute in honoring its former branch officers and its veteran members at a dinner held the evening of November 13, 1965 in the HAAC Club. Present officers of Branch 19 and the membership expressed their appreciation and thanks for the services which had been given by former officers of the branch, and showered their respects on their fellow members of fifty or more years standing in the Association. The tables were set in elegant taste and individually decorated, and they were designated by the names of the months — JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH, etc. The sentimental event was opened with a greeting by the president of Branch 19, Michael Hegedűs, Jr., who is also a Director of the William Penn Fraternal Association. Then the American and the Hungarian national anthems were sung by Miss Mary Ann Stanko accompanied by Nicholas Heltay. The Rev. Emery Bertalan said grace. Main speaker was National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics who warmly and sincerely addressed his eloquent words to the past branch officers and the longtime members. Following this veteran members Mrs. Gabriel Szendrei, Mrs. Stephen Csarni and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bodnar received the 50-Year Member Emblem from Louis L. Varga, First Vice President of the Association. Then former Branch 19 officers John Szekeres, Michael Puskas, Frank Drugos, Sr., Joseph Keszler, Peter Kaszics, William Penn Director Joseph Kormondy, Mrs. Joseph Haluska, Mrs. Joseph Vida, Mrs. Wendell Horvath, Mrs. Peter Kadi and Mrs. Paul Agg were presented citations. Again Vice President Varga made the presentations. At the conclusion of the dinner the Rev. Joseph Rasky gave the benediction. Miss Mary Ann Koszkulics followed with a Hungarian dance. Telegrams were read from National President Elmer Charles, Second Vice President Julius J. Lenart, Director John P. Balia, and Gay B. Banes, General Counsel for the Association. Out-of-town guests were: From New York City — Director and Mrs. Joseph Toma, District Manager John Május, and about 12 members; from Passaic, N. J. — District Manager and Mrs. Andrew N. Rinko, Branch President and Mrs. Coloman Toth; from Trenton, N. J. — Division Manager and Mrs. Louis Revesz, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Radvany, Sr., about 10- 12 members; from Cranford, N. J. — District Manager and Mrs. Ferdinand Erdei; from Bethlehem and Allentown, Pa. — Director and Mrs. Stephen Lang, Jr., District Manager and Mrs. Frank P. Dance, Branch President Geza Lang, former Director and Mrs. Stephen Lang, Sr.; from Bridgeport, Conn. — First Vice President Louis L. Varga, Director and Branch President Frank Bero, Mrs. Charles Messinger, and about 30 members. Among the LOCAL GUESTS were: Director Michael Hegedűs, Jr., president of Branch 19, and his family; Director Joseph Kormondy and his family; Mr. and Mrs. Adalbert Fekete, Bela Puskas, and Ruth Vasvari. The GOLD and MAIN table was decorated by Mrs. Frank Puskas and Mrs. Michael Hegedűs, Jr. The dual celebration and honors for Branch 19’s past officers and veteran members was a very successful and joyful affair and will long be remembered.
