In recent years we have been looking for ways and means to expand fraternal activities on the branch level. For this purpose a questionnaire was sent to our branches, seeking and hoping to determine what type of activity would best be suited for any given area, but at the same time fully realizing that desirable programs for some branches would not suit the needs of other branches as activities vary in the various sections of the country. Plans such as ours require detailed information in order to succeed. Recently in launching two new Junior programs we found, as a result of our questionnaire, that for this particular program to be successful we would have to divide the Juniors into two age groups: one program for those in the over age 10 group and the other for the under age 10 group. We therefore grouped our Junior members into age groups. We then began to study the make-up of these age group's, this study being very important because we are keenly aware of the fact that the future of our Association depends on today’s youth. It was extremely disheartening to find from the statistics that the ratio of Junior members to Senior members in all branches is very low. The figures were rechecked to see whether or not an error had been made, but each recheck revealed the same sad truth: We have only one Junior member for every three Adult members, and evaluating these figures automatically raises in our minds the question— WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN? It is hard to believe that only about one-fourth of our total membership is in the Juvenile Order. There must be more children, and there are more, but where? Our people are family-loving, which simply means that it is common for Hungarian Americans to have four or more children. Again we ask? WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN? This is a problem we must deal with frankly even though the subject is an unpleasant matter. Is it not natural law that parents want their offspring with them? Then whv is this not so in the William Penn? Why are not our William Penn parents enrolling their children in the society in which they have confidence for their own insurance reouirements? Perhaps these parents are not familiar with the wide selection of insurance plans the. William Penn Fraternal Association offers to every age group — Adult and Juvenile. In our official publication the various plans of insurance offered bv the Association are detailed, so those who read the WILLIAM PENN must know what type of insurance we sell. Our rates, it has been nroved, are competitive with those of the commercial companies. Nowhere are there better rates for children than at William Penn, and parents ought to note it, in addition to realizing that children today need more insurance than in former years what with the higher costs of education, the mounting accident rates among the young, the need to prepare for the future now, etc. A majority of our members have intimate experience with today’s economic conditions and know full-well that if they are to enable their children to have a higher education they must provide for it well in advance, and hoping that their children will win scholarships is fairly hopeless thinking. Parents can assure the education of their children by purchasing William Penn insurance for them, an investment now that will guarantee a better tomorrow for their children. A systematic plan of insurance from the time of birth, when rates are low, builds up a dependable fund for educational and other benefits to come in the future vears. It is not only a natural obligation for parents to provide the foundation for their children’s future but it is also a necessity for the future of this Association to seek more and more young blood for membership. All the children of all our Senior members should be enrolled in the William Penn, which certainly can logically be expected. Is it not a virtual contradiction to have a house divided against itself, that is, parents William Penn members and children not William Penn members? There can be no good reason for this. Remember: OUR PROTECTION AND INVESTMENT CAN STAND UP TO MODERN INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AND OUR RATES ARE QUITE REASONABLE. Possibly our Adult members do not know what plans of insurance are available for their children. Regular attendance at the branch meetings, reading of our official organ, and above all, contact with our Field Men, personal if possible, are the best means by which parents can learn the many plans of insurance available to their children from the William Penn. Finally, for the third time we ask, WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN? meaning, WHY ARE SO MANY OF OUR CHILDREN NOT MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION WHEN THEIR PARENTS ARE?? We invite answers and comments from the parents and from the Field Men. THE FIELD MANAGER SAYS . .. By Elmer Charles “HOW 5 UNIQUE ADVANTAGES OF LIFE INSURANCE CAN BRING PEACE OF MIND AT THE STROKE OF A PEN.” 1. By Guaranteeing Family Protection. Life insurance lets a man protect his family right from the start. For life insurance guarantees, at the stroke of a pen, a sum of money far greater than most couples could save in many years. > ■■ 2. By Safeguarding Your Home. With life insurance, a man can safeguard the home his family loves by owning a policy which takes care of any unpaid mortgage. 3. By Providing a Guaranteed Fund for Emergencies. You know, in advance, exactly how much money will be available in your life insurance at any given time. Secure in this knowledge, you are better prepared to face emergencies. 4. By Assuring Funds for College. By figuring in advance what it will cost to give your children a college education, you can make sure — through life insurance — that college expenses can be met. 5. By Guaranteeing a Steady Retirement Income. A husband and wife can get more pleasure from their later years when they plan their life insurance to provide a steady income guaranteed to last for both their lifetimes. “WHEN SOMEONE’S COUNTING ON YOU . . . . . .
