Hello again from Branch 129, Columbus, Ohio. We hope everyone has had a very enjoyable summer this year. The hustle and bustle of the fall and winter months and another frantic season of bowling is upon us. Since bowling plays a very big part of our activities in our organization, I would like to take this opportunity to suggest a way in which we can enjoy this sport more fully this year. I think it would be a very good idea if the Cities within each State who have Wm. Penn Bowling Leagues, would contact one another and set up Bowling Matches against each other on a Home to Home basis. These matches could be scheduled so as not to interfere with your league schedule. I think the week ends would be the ideal time, since most everyone is generally free on these days. The home team being the host, Would see to it that their guests were wined and dined at these affairs. The league President and league Secretary of the different Cities would work out the details of these matches and I am sure, everyone would have a great time too. We would have some kind of a prize, such as a trophy or cash award to the winner of these matches. We here, at Branch 129, are much interested in this idea and would welcome hearing from any of the Cities in Ohio about a Bowling Match. If you wish to contact us, write to the League Secretary and Treasurer Wm. D. FRANKLIN, 2497 Dawnlight Avenue, Columbus 11, Ohio, or if you wish to telephone, call AM. 8-1449, Columbus, Ohio. We have around ten men teams and two or three women teams. Well, dear Readers, things have been pretty slow at the Home this past month. We have been down a couple of times this past month and Due to Summer Vacations of our Bowling League members and officers, we were unable to have a regular Bowling League Meeting to discuss prize money of $164.00 won by our League’s members at the 14th Annual National Bowling Tournament, held at Dayton, Ohio. However, a date has been set for September 5, 1957. We do hope that all bowlers will be present at this meeting and all future meetings the Bowling President may call for to voice your opinions at the meetings and not elsewhere, also to be informed of the League’s Rules and Regulations. Our Bride of the Month: Dolores Jean MACY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Macy, Sr. of 355 Beatrice Ave. Johnstown, Penna, was married Saturday, August 31, 1957 to Joseph John Golias. The double ring ceremony took place at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, upper Decker Ave., Johnstown, Pa. A supper and reception was held at 6:00 P. M. for the many guests at Christ the Saviour Church Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Golias are on a honeymoon trip to Florida. Mrs. Golias is operator and speciahave missed seeing a lot of old friends. We did however run into a few. We saw Torchy Gaal, just after she came over from bowling at the Swan Alleys the other night. We inquired as to how she had bowled, “Now I ask you Torchy, is that any way to talk”. Some of the other Lady bowlers were there, and they sure had a hot Euchre game going. The family wash was being hung out as fast as the cards were being dealt. Ha, ha, I am only kidding, girls. Mr. GEORGE TOKÁR, our lodge president or better known as “The _ Lone Ranger of Hoover Dam” was present. He tells me the fish are biting up at the “Dam” and that they are catching some nice Pickerel. We were happy to see Mr. Dave GEORGE (our former president) at our bowling meeting the other night. We sure enjoyed having you “DAVE”. My reporter, Mrs. Evelyn BOUCHER, informs me that Mr. and Mrs. KENNY BOLAR had an accident on the highway. A teenager driving a Hotrod ran into the back of their car. Kenny was in the hospital for a day but is reported doing all right now. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mancini is reported to be headed for Sunny Florida for the winter months. We will miss you in the league this season ,Tony. Well, the time has come to say 30 for now; we would, however like to remind you of our regular monthly meetings which are on the second Thursday of each month. If you wish to inquire about insurance, contact Mr. LOU TOKÁR at his home, 264 Southwood Avenue, Telephone HI. 4-2760. You can also reach him at the William Penn Home. Press Correspondent WILLIAM D. FRANKLIN list of ‘Dee’s Beauty Salon, 380 Beatrice Ave. Mrs. MICHAEL FACZAN, wife of Director MICHAEL FACZAN and one of our outstanding bowlers is a surgical patient at Mercy Hospital. Your many friends .and bowling league members wish you a speedy recovery. May we offer congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald BOROSKI on the birth of their new daughter.
