Ivancso It is my pleasure, privilege and honor to report to my readers that . the Rev. Alexander A. Pinter has been named Pastor of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Hungarian Church. Before this appointment, Father Pinter was assistant to the late Monsignor Elmer E. Eordogh, and following the death of the monsignor a year ago, he was named administrator of St. Stephen’s. Serving as a trustee under Father Pinter, I had the opportunity of becoming well acquainted with the priest and with the man, and our friendship grew very close when Father Pinter joined our Verhovay branch here in Toledo, which I manage, and became very active in its affairs. Father Pinter’s fraternal interests are not confined to Toledo for he enthusiastically attends our yearly Tournament-Fellowship Days. Let’s hope that his pastoral duties will not prevent his going to Buffalo, which would make his fourth successive year. In the name of Branch 27, its members and its officers, friends, and yours truly, God bless our new pastor with divine guidance and with health and long life! Many fathers and mothers are elated when the doctor says: "It’s a boy.” Mr. and Mrs. John Koleszar [ — she’s my sister Ann — aqre no dif- j ferent. However, this time the medico reported a girl. But after John, Jr. and James Francis, Erma Marie was a very welcome new guest in the family. Congratulations, sister o'mine, and we welcome all you into our William Penn family. Member Coloman Bak has opened a business for himself, under the name of “Champion Tuxedo Rentals.” Bak, known as “Kelly” to most of his friends, also tailors and dry cleans. He asks for your patronage and guarantees top service. Address: 1164 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo; telephone: LAwndale 5567. During the many changes in the weather last month, a number of our members were made ill. President Julius Feyes was incapacitated for a few days. In the words of his charming wife Dotty: “Julius got better for the next bowling tournament.” Our tourneys are so much interesting that they are veritable tonics. Still sick is Mrs. Stephen Takacs, wife of our past president. Speedy recovery to her. Message to Chicago District Manager Ernest C. Taylor: We could have borrowed a couple hundred pins from you at the Peterson Classic to help cash in. As many bowlers say sympathetically, “Better luck next year.” A few of the best “subs” last month: Bob Nickle shot a 702; Hazel Vischer a 695 total; brother John a total of... I can’t reveal it for he assures me I’ll need a substitute in Buffalo if I do! I’ll have the total in May’s’ volumn when the tournament is in the past. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Knudson and their children have become members of our branch. Richard Nagy’s bride, from Italy, hardly had her first hot dog... pardon and ahem, I mean wiener on bun ... when she joined our branch. The Knudson’s and the, Nagy’s should be emulated so that we could all say: “Our family is 100% William Penn.” Gee, how happy we’d be to make this “100%er list” longer in future write-ups. John and Hattie Kocsis, of Akron, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zabrosky. Aside to Hattie: The one who wins the last game in pinochle is the winner for the evening. Right? Additional aside: Johnny, your new buick is gorgeous. Ernest “ Pudgy” Belegrin is happy to see his wife Sue home from her vacation. Sue is back as Ernie’s assistant manager at his service station. She does add definite appeal to the corner of Front and Consaul. Last Minute News: Mrs. Paul Cothrel (Priscilla Poes) gave birth to a daughter, which makes grandpa Joseph Poes, a long-time, tireless worker at this branch, a very happy man. Congratulations to the parents. As our William Penn tournament The Easter Bunny has come and gone, I hope you all gained 15 pounds .whether you needed it or not, especially the ladies. Pleasant wishes such as that are only another of our services. In our “Congratulations Department,” Mr. Stork let me know about two lovely girls he delivered, one to Mr. and Mrs. James Blaha and the other to Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Pallagi, both of McKeesport, Pa. He then got an overnight flight plane all the way to Panama City, Florida, where Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Halas were waiting for his arrival with George David. We got so many inquiries about our bowling league that I am forced to write about it again. Since we didn’t bowl Easter Sunday, the alleys will probably be repaired soon. Not all of them, of course, just 1, 2, 3, 4. It seems as though all good bowlers throw certain kinds of “balls,” such as "curve balls,” “hooks,” “cross alley,” etc. This makes us approaches, Toledo’s bowlers, always sports, say: “May the best teams win.” To the aforegoing I add: “May one of the winners be from Toledo.” Good luck and have fun. If you drive, do drive carefully; also, if the other driver is violating driving lethics, don’t be asinine and anserine to the point of calling his bluff at the risk of injury or death to yourself and car occupants. Yield to a blundering driving fool. Note to our Branch Members: Make your checks and money orders payable to WILLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION, BRANCH 27. good bowlers, too, because we throw certain kinds of balls. We have different names, however, such as the ‘crash ball,” "alley repair ball,” and then we have the “nothing ball.” This ball is very important because it means you should have stayed home and let your team use the dummy score. Our most important ball is the “ill health ball.” This is the ball that makes everyone sick, and believe me, this is the one that’s used the most. Don’t let all this propaganda fool you, because we are actually good. Our biggest compliment came from TV Channel #2. They want us for Super Circus. Now for the answer to our “Far- Flung Member Quiz” in the March issue. I have decided to save this until next month just to disappoint everyone and make you keep the Journal for one more month. I sincerely feel you will appreciate this act of kindness on my part. If you think this is a foul trick, you are absolutely right. TUBE CITY NEWS \ Branch 226 ---- McKeesport, Pa. By Dist. Mgr.
