I lost a very dear friend in October, Paul Martincsek, who was wellknown in the Hungarian community. He sang at many Hungarian events. My husband, Andy, and Paul worked together for many years. Our children played together, and we shared many good times. His wife, Itca, cooked at WPA's Hungarian Heritage Experience. Paul is deeply missed. My sympathy to Itca and her family. By now, members realize that Feb. 14 is not only Valentine's Day but also Ash Wednesday. We welcome both as part of our celebration of life. Use Valentine's Day to demonstrate your gratitude toward dear ones. Take advantage of the 40 days of lent to participate in religious services that will enhance your spiritual life. Last year, Branch 800 had two WPFA Scholarship Foundation grant recipients. We encourage them and others to reapply for the 2018-2019 year. Information and forms can be found in this month's issue of William Penn Life and are available on the Association's website. Students, your applications must be postmarked by May 31,2018. We extend condolences to the family and friends of Mary C. Yoder, who recently passed away, and to all who have lost a loved one. We cherish our members. Happy birthday to everyone born during this short month, even if you are a leap year baby without a designated day this year. Happiness and joy to members celebrating other significant events, such as anniversaries, engagements, weddings, or the birth of a child. Take time to relax and be good to yourself during the long President's Day weekend. Last month, we experienced frigid temperatures. Let's hope for warmer weather.
