Branch News A group of young WPA members welcome Santa Claus to the annual family Christmas party hosted this past December by Branch 129. org/about/our-history/ if you would like to learn more about the history of our fraternal organization. The next South Bend Branch 132 meeting will be held on March 6 at the Martin's Supermarket Deli (first floor) on Ireland Road at 5:00 p.m. We will continue planning for the upcoming year and should have a date selected for the summer picnic. Branch 189 Alliance, OH by Gloria E. Vargovic Happy New Year 2018 from WPA Branch 189. May the new year bring happiness and good health to all. Our annual Christmas party was held with approximately 100 members in attendance. Lots of great food, dancing and holiday music was enjoyed by all. On New Year's Eve, about 70 members rang in the new year at midnight. Traditional pigs and kraut were on the menu. A 50/50 drawing was also held. DJ Mike provided music for both events. We hold our monthly steak and fish fry on the third Friday of each month, except during the summer months. Carry out is also available. Those celebrating December birthdays included Deb Coe, Kelly Williams, Sharon Crateau, Allen Church, Gracie Cobbs, Erica Rhome, Jeffry Ward and Bryan Kurena. Food banks normally don't receive many donations in January, and so we will do our part and donate back. The drive ends April 3, so please donate what you can. Branch 249 Dayton, OH by Mark Schmidt Have you survived winter so far? Long underwear, two pairs of socks, heavy gloves and stocking hats are now in vogue. Quite the romantic look for Valentine's Day. But, soon, another month of cold will have come and gone with March and spring following closely behind. Here in Dayton, we held our first branch meeting in January. We discussed upcoming events for 2018: Join Hands Day, Join Hands Against Hunger, the Easter Basket donations, and the annual Hungarian Day at the Dayton Dragon's baseball game. For the Dragon's game on Sunday, May 20, we have rented a party deck.
