It can buy loved ones time to grieve. It can pay off debts and loans, providing surviving family members with the chance to move on with a clean slate. It can keep families in their homes and fund a child's college education. It can keep a family business in the family. It can provide a stream of income for a family to live on. Life insurance can do all of these wonderful things for your family. There's just one small catch: You need to own life insurance. According to one industry research group, 30 percent of U.S. households have no life insurance whatsoever. A majority of families either have no life insurance or not enough, leaving them one accident or terminal illness away from a financial catastrophe for their loved ones. What if you were suddenly gone and your family had to manage on their own? When was the last time you did the math to make sure your loved ones would be okay financially? Have you checked with your employer to find out what kind of life insurance benefit you have through work and whether you have the option to increase your coverage? When was the last time you had your life insurance needs reviewed by an insurance professional? Each September, WPA joins leading insurance companies in supporting Life Insurance Awareness Month. We encourage you to think about your needs and the needs of your family. If you find that you have a need for coverage, we strongly urge you to act by contacting your local WPA agent or our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366 to find an agent in your area. WPA mourns former National Director Albert Frate Albert Frate National Director 2015-2017 by Richard E. Sarosi WICKLIFFE, OH — Members of Branch 14 Cleveland and the WPA Official Family were saddened by the death of Albert Frate, former National Director and Branch 14 Auditor, who passed away July 17, 2017 at the age of 68. Albert fought a courageous battle for over 16 months against illness and a serious stroke. He was cared for by his sister Rosemary and brother Frank, who provided him with care, love and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Albert taught in the Cleveland Public School System for over 25 years, specializing in helping students with reading disabilities. He continued his involvement with students during his retirement in many ways, including tutoring, substitute teaching and monitoring exams. A Master Gardener, Albert helped develop the gardening program for the Lake County Juvenile Justice Center as well as the Wickliffe Clean City Commission (now known as Keep Wickliffe Beautiful). His love of gardening began during his elementary school days when he became involved with the City of Cleveland's Garden Program at Harvey Rice School, first as a student and later as a student assistant. Those visiting Albert in the summertime usually ended up checking out his garden and small greenhouse. Albert planted the last garden at his home in the summer of 2015. In 2009, Albert participated in the WPA Tour to Hungary, Vienna and Bratislava. He nearly caused an international incident when he ordered lángos with powdered sugar. The shop owner was in disbelief as the locals always ordered their lángos with sour cream, garlic and cheese. In addition to his gardening and involvement with WPA, Albert kept himself active in retirement serving as Vice Chief Continued on Page 24 2 0 September 2017° WILLIAM PENN LIFE
