Branch News Young members attending the Branch 88 family Christmas party were happy to have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus. Members young and old wait in line to tell Santa their Christmas wishes during the family Christmas party hosted by Branch 89. the items for the treat bags. Also, thanks to Kathy, Dennis, Mike and Joe Chobody for making the party a success. Plans are being made for the annual Founder's Day party to be held in March. Branch members will be notified when details are finalized. Here's hoping all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Branch 89 Homestead, PA by Lisa S. Toth-Maskarinec What a wonderful success our Christmas party was. Although we had to compete with the Steel Valley Christmas Parade, our attendance was better than expected. It was great to see both the children and adults alike bowling and having a great time. It was especially nice to see a group of children escort Santa into the bowling lane and help him to his chair. It was a very special day. Branch 89 donated Holiday Baskets to those less fortunate for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Branch Vice President Mark Maskarinec presented a gift card to Monica Kaufold of Eighth Avenue Ministries (see photo at right). Monica's husband, Rev. Keith Kaufold, is responsible for bringing this ministry to the Steel Valley Area and is responsible for helping many of our less fortunate citizens. We also will be supporting the Coins for Charity Collection recently established by Rev. Kerestesi. This quarter's donations will go to the Rainbow Kitchen. It is important to remember, as we begin a new year, those in need and to try and do something to brighten someone's day. And on another positive note, it's back! And, we have a date! Mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11. That's when our very own Branch President John S. Toth Jr. (a.k.a. Chef János) has agreed to make gulyás for our first fundraising project of the year. The gulyás will be made at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead. Orders can be made by calling either Branch Vice President Mark S. Maskarinec or Branch Coordinator Lisa Toth-Maskarinec at 412-872-5022. Please leave a message if we don't answer. Additional information to follow. We will also be accepting donations of take-out containers and the ingredients necessary for making the gulyás (meat, potatoes and vegetables). No donation is too small. There's nothing better on a cold day than a good bowl of gulyás. We congratulate our officers for the upcoming year: John S. Toth Jr., president; Mark S. Maskarinec, vice president; Ruth D. Toth, secretarytreasurer; and Justin T. Toth and Lisa S. Toth-Maskarinec, auditors. Well done, guys! We at Branch 89 wish everyone the healthiest, happiest and most prosperous of New Years.
