April 28-29, 2017 • Washington, PA When everyone was finished bowling, the party moved to the neighboring DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel for the annual post-tournament barbeque. Guests feasted on a buffet featuring barbecued ribs, stuffed chicken breast, shrimp, steamed veggies, twice-baked potatoes, puff pastries, a variety of cheeses and an array of delicious desserts. A festive atmosphere filled the dining room. Laughter and relaxed smiles were heard and seen everywhere one looked. After dinner, prizes were presented to the teams and individuals who bowled the highest scores. And, in keeping with the light-hearted spirit of the weekend, special prizes were awarded to those who made a "good effort." The man and woman with the lowest individual scores received toy bowling sets to help them practice for next year. The weekend would not have been the success it was were it not for the efforts of many dedicated members and friends of WPA. In particular, we thank:- Chair of the Board Andrew W. McNelis, the Board of Directors and the National Officers;- the Home Office staff;- our Lane Sponsors (see list below);- American Legion Post 175 for presenting the U.S. Flag during our opening ceremonies;- Rev. John P. McKinsey Jr. and Rev. Daniel J. Borsay for offering the invocation at the banquet in English and Hungarian, respectively;- and the staff and management of The Meadows and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. As always, the biggest winner of the weekend was the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation. Between our Lane Sponsors, the 50/50 raffle, and donations from bowlers and guests, we raised $5,435 to help our young members pursuing a higher eduation. It was a another wonderful fraternal event.
