Branch News tributed to a food bank. A total of 60 food items was collected. This year, the food was delivered to the Northside Common Ministries Food Pantry on Brighton Road, just a few blocks from the Home Office. This ministry is a non-profit, community based organization established in 1982 to meet the increasing needs of the homeless population. It operates an emergency shelter for men, the food pantry and a permanent housing program for men with disabilities. Their needs are great, so our donations will be put to good use. Many thanks to those who brought food donations to the party. Happy birthday to all those celebrating a birthday this month. May you be blessed with many more, and may all of them be healthy. If you have any news to share or have any insurance questions, please contact me at 412-319-7116 or by email at dmckinsey@hotmail.com. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Dave Greiner We at Branch 800 hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. Our branch had a very enjoyable Christmas party Dec. 8 at the Holiday Inn Express. We had a delicious catered supper, topped off by a visit from Santa Claus. Santa was able to hear all our children's Christmas wishes and gave each of them a bag of gifts. All branch members and guests were able to take home a grab bag prize. The party closed with everyone singing their favorite Christmas carols from the booklets provided by the Home Office. Everyone left in the Christmas spirit, despite the wintry mix of weather that fell that night. Branch 800, once again, was able to participate in the WPA's Holiday Basket program. We thank the Home Office for its support and helping us make Christmas a little merrier for some individuals and families in our area. We wish a happy birthday to all branch members celebrating during the month of January. We send Jo Ann Brynes get well wishes as she recovers from á December operation. Branch 800 wishes one and all a Happy New Year 2014. We hope everyone was able to enjoy the holiday with family and friends. The new year started off with the Tournament of Roses Parade, a wonderful way to start the year. After a big New Year's Day meal, we hope everyone was able to relax and enjoy some football and finish the day with everyone getting home safely. At this time of year, basketball goes into full swing. Branch 800 wishes our local Bishop Guilfoyle High School boys and girls teams good luck for a successful season. Don't forget to contact Bob Jones for all your life insurance and annuity needs. Call him at 814-942-2661. Until next month, stay warm! Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA by Mary Lou Schutz Our branch members gathered Dec. 5 for a meeting and Christmas party at Gunner Restaurant. We held a short business meeting followed by dinner. During the business portion of our gathering, we approved our branch's donation to the Christian Food Bank in conjunction with the WPA's Holiday Basket program. We also voted to send the food bank a donation of $25 each month during 2014. Everyone present at the meeting signed a Christmas card for Peggy Marconi, our former longtime branch secretary, who now resides at Pinecrest Manor. We all appreciated the gifts sent to the branch by the Home Office. Each member enjoyed a delicious dinner of their choice from the restaurant menu, as well as good conversation and companionship. The rain outside did not dampen the fraternal spirit of the event. Remember, we do not hold branch meetings during January, February or March because of inclement weather. Our next meeting will be held April 3. We hope to see you there. We hope everyone enjoyed a blessed Christmas, and we wish all our fellow William Penn Association members a happy and prosperous new year. Are your beneficiaries up to date? That’s a question you may not have asked yourself very often, if ever. But, it’s one you should ask yourself at least once a year. We can’t stress enough the importance of regularly checking the beneficiaries listed on your life insurance certificates. It is the only way to ensure that the people you want to receive the benefits of your life insurance are the ones who will receive it. Think about the changes that have occurred in your life since you purchased your life insurance. Getting married, having children, losing a loved one, getting remarried-all these life changes affect your responsibilities. In some states, divorce may make your beneficiaries null and void. Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance certificates reflect such changes? If you think you need to update the beneficiaries listed on your certificates--either primary or secondary beneficiaries-contact your WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366. William Penn Life 0 January 2014 0 27
