Branch News A day that Branch 296 would like for you to mark on your calendars is July 22 for our Join Hands Day project. Although Join Hands Day was officially on May 4, Branch 296 will be conducting its volunteer project at a special meeting on Monday, July 22, at 6:00 p.m. at King's Family Restaurant in New Kensington. We'll be packing on-the-go breakfast/ snack bags to be delivered to the families staying at Pittsburgh's Ronald McDonald House, near Children's Hospital. Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home" for the families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals. Members of all ages are welcome to pitch in for this fun project that will benefit families who have loved ones hospitalized and would appreciate a handy, bagged meal. This is a great volunteer project for children to participate in, as the bags can be decorated before filling. Plus, for our youth members, this is a great opportunity for you to earn community service credits if you're working on them over the summer. If you have any questions, please give me a call at 724-274-5318 or feel free to just show up. We hope to see you as we join hands to help others and have some fun at the same time. We extend warm birthday wishes to all of our members who are celebrating July birthdays, including my daughter, Leanne. Congratulations to Cassandra Holmes, our Life Underwriter, who has devoted 25 years of service to William Penn Association. Cassie is always ready with a smile, is full of fun and always gets the job done. Way to go, Cassie. We're very proud of you. After our special meeting July 22, our next regular meeting will not be held until Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7:00 p.m. at King's Family Restaurant. We're looking forward to seeing you at the WPA Golf Tournament on July 19 and 20 and our Join Hands Day project on July 22. As always, for your insurance and annuity needs, you may reach our awesome agent, Noreen Fritz, FIC, LUTCF, at 412-821-1837 or email her at noreenbunny.fritz@verizon.net. Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA by Barbara Kreiser Well, Branch 336 finally has a volunteer to write an article every month. My name is Barbara Kreiser. I have been an active member since 2010 and have enjoyed our meetings and social events very much. I'm sure some of you have seen me and my husband, Mike, at the annual WPA golf outing. We haven't won yet, but we're shooting for that hole-in-one this year. I thank Branch 336 Coordinator Charles Johns and National Director James W. Robertson for their support. We were recently privileged to host the annual Pennsylvania Fraternal Alliance meeting and dinner prior to the luncheon with our state representatives and senators. The Pennsylvania Fraternal Alliance is very grateful to be able to hold these meetings at our Verhovay Home Association building in Harrisburg. Join Hands Day was held in conjunction with the Dauphin County fraternal groups on May 11. We will be participating in the 30th Annual WPA Golf Tournament & Scholarship Days at Quicksilver. Branch 336 is also hosting our branch golf outing and annual picnic on July 13. Our golf outing will be held at Sportsman's Golf Course, and the picnic will be at Cibort Park. We're looking forward to a fun filled day of golf, good food, dancing and much more. Tee-off time for the golf outing is 7:30 a.m. The picnic will kick off at noon and end at 6:00 p.m. Our meetings are held the third Monday of every month at the Verhovay Home Association building on 29th Street in Harrisburg. Congratulations to everyone celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this month. If you have any news that you would like to have in future branch articles, please contact me, Barbara Kreiser, at 717-695-3521, or email at Barbara_Kreiser@yahoo.com. If you have any insurance or annuity needs, whether you just need a policy tune up or are looking for a new policy, call Charles Johns at 717-439-8620. Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA by Dora S. McKinsey By the time you read this, July 4th will be here and gone. Too often we take our independence for granted, not even thinking about the rights and privileges we enjoy here in America. Let us not forget the sacrifices made in the past and those still being made today to keep this great country the "Land of the Free." The 30th Annual WPA Golf Tournament & Scholarship Days is being held July 19 and 20 at Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway, Pa., with hotel rooms at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott. A miniature golf tournament is being held this year at Scally's Golf Center in Coraopolis, Pa., on Saturday, July 20. The kids had a great time two years ago when we held our first miniature golf tournament at Scally's. If you are a golfer, Mark your calendars now! All submissions to our magazine are due the 10th day of each month. By meeting this deadline, you help ensure that our magazine gets in our readers' hands in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please contact John E. Lovász, Managing Editor, toll-free at 1-800-848-7366, ext. 135.
