Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn B. Bodnar Rev. Joseph Bodnar and I attended the WPA General Convention and took part in the opening ceremonies Monday morning and the memorial service held Tuesday morning. We enjoyed seeing everyone. We have been very busy since returning from the Convention. Our third grandchild, Matthew Thomas Bodnar, was bom on Oct. 8 and will soon be a WPA member. Our branch's family Christmas party will be held Sunday, Dec. 11, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of Bayard Street and North Joyce Kilmer Avenue, New Bruns­wick. A business meeting will follow. We hope to see you there. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak It's so hard to believe Santa's going to be visiting everyone again. But, the most joyous season of the year is quickly approaching. Branch 28 held a special dinner on Oct. 23 to celebrate WPA's 125th anniversary and to honor our new­est 50-year members. Prior to the dinner, we joined the Youngstown Freedom Fighters for a service com­memorating the Hungarian Revolu­tion of 1956. The day also included a special awards ceremony during which the Hungarian community of Youngstown honored branch mem­18 0 December 2011 0 William Penn Life With all the festive celebrations taking place, we don't want to forget to wish everyone having a birthday or anniversary a very special day of enjoyment. As always, but especially at this time of year, we remember with special thoughts and prayers those who have recently lost a loved one. May the love and peace of this holy season be shared by all our members, their families and their friends. With the assistance of the Home Office, Branch 28 once again par­ticipated in WPA's Holiday Basket Program. The annual Thanksgiving vesper service conducted jointly by the Hungarian churches in our area was held Nov. 22 at the Hungarian Pres­byterian Church in Youngstown. Branch 34 member Gábriellé Kelley and her partner recently won first place in the Champi­onship 5 dance in New Jersey. by Andy McNelis We would like to share some happy news about some of our branch members. We would like to congrat­ulate branch member and my grand­son Donovan McNelis for making honor roll in the first semester of his freshman year at Penn Trafford High School and for helping his Warriors achieve their first unde­feated football season in 10 years. Donovan was also offered a three year scholarship at a private high school for his ability on the football field. Keep up the great work. Congratulations also to branch member and my great-niece Gábri­ellé Kelley on winning first place in the Championship 5 dance in New Jersey. Recently, Gábriellé and her partner met Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Mark Balias at the Manhat­tan Amateur Classic. In October they were honored to have a dance workshop and lessons with world renowned dance coach Wendy Johnson, Dancing with the Stars cho­reographer (Latin Champion) and organizer of the San Diego Dances­­port Championships. Gábriellé is also on the National Junior Honor Society and a varsity cheerleader. We would like to extend happy birthday wishes to all branch members celebrating their birthdays.
