Branch News Members of Branch 89 welcome Santa to the branch's annual family Christmas party at Brunswick Playmor Bowling Lanes. Santa and Mrs. Claus traveled by horse-drawn sleigh to attend the family Christmas party hosted by Branch 189. on Christmas day—two of our members are getting married. Sharon Penturf and Jim Croteau are finally tying the knot on Feb. 12, 2011. It's about time. We are planning a big day for them. One of our members passed away a few days before Christmas. She will be missed by everyone. We send out our prayers to her family and good friends, Vera. Our steak and fish fries are going great. We hold them on the third Friday of each month. Everyone looks forward to them. Our insurance representative, Margie, has been ill for a long time. We hope she is feeling better and has a nice year. To all our members celebrating a birthday in January, may all your wishes come true. We like to thank the Flome Office for all its help with our Christmas party. Until next time, stay happy and healthy and have a smile for everyone. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Leslie F. Petras You wonder where the time goes; another year has concluded. The officers of Branch 226 wish all families of William Penn Association a happy new year with both good health and prosperity in 2011. Our branch decided to make donations in conjunction with the WPA's Holiday Basket program. With the Home Office's backing and additional funds from our branch, we made contributions to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for cancer research and to the American Diabetes Association, to go along with our yearly gift to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. We at the branch were sadden to hear of the passing of Donna Nagy, wife of National Director Roger G. Nagy. Our condolences and prayers are extended to the family. The branch held a business meeting on Sunday, Dec. 5, during which we conducted the election of officers for the coming year. The following members were reelected to serve in 2011: Malvene Heyz, president; Richard Heyz Jr., vice president; Leslie F. Petras, secretary-treasurer; Malvene Harris, recording secretary; and Sarah Petras, Ronald Harris and Janet Sparico, auditors. After the installation of officers, the branch hosted its annual children's Christmas party at the Free Hungarian Reformed Church in McKeesport. We thank the Home Office for its generous support and for the gifts given to the children. A lunch buffet, including pizza, submarine sandwiches and fruit salad, was provided. For dessert, families were treated to a couple of beautifully decorated sheet cakes. After the meal the children were entertained by magician Kevin Hurley. At the end of his show, the magician had the children call loudly for Santa Claus, and, sure enough, Santa arrived to the children's great joy. How excited they were as they lined up to sit on Santa's lap and tell him all their expectations! Santa presented to all the children gifts and toys provided by the Home Office and Branch 226. There were 36 children in attendance and all had a great time. We again thank the Home Office for its support and send special thanks to our friends and branch officers who worked to make this year's Christmas party a success.
