Branch News Branch 8 Johnstown, PA by Dorothy Kedves What a way to start out the winter... and winter hadn't even officially begun! It was a snowy, cold and windy day in Johnstown on Dec. 5 for our children's Christmas party. It was too early for that kind of weather, but in spite of the snow, the party went on as usual. Janel Kozak was well prepared with all the beautiful crafts for the children to enjoy. They made decorated glass Christmas balls, picture frames and, of course, gingerbread man ornaments to hang on the tree at home. Santa arrived and gave all the children the foam light sticks and other gifts which the WPA Home Office provided. The children took construction paper and made Star Wars blasters out of the light sticks. What fun they had! We want to thank the Home Office for the beautiful calendars and other goodies which were given to the people who attended. We also thank Ernest Kedves for providing Christmas music. All enjoyed hot dogs, kolbász with kraut, pizza and other treats. We would like all members to join us in the activities that Branch 8 offers. We should also remember and pray for all our service men and women. Happy New Year to all the members of WPA and have a safe winter! Branch 10 Barton, OH Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH Branch 248 Monaville, WV Branch 349 Weirton, WV Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH by Joyce Nicholson Hello and Happy New Year from the WPA branches from Barton, Martins Ferry, Weirton, Steubenville and Monaville! 2010 was busy and full of events, lots of fun and great times. We had our Christmas bowling party (great fun!) on Dec. 5 then delivered the food baskets the week before Christmas. Once again, we donated a gift basket to the Red Cross for their holiday auction fundraiser which helps our local chapter and the Literacy Council combined. We also decided to begin a drive to provide those in need around the Ohio Valley with new, dean socks or gloves to keep warm. We had a few volunteers who decided to canvas friends for donations of socks and gloves and collected more than 50 pair to donate to the Urban Mission Ministries of Steubenville from our branches. For information about our branch activities, call Joyce Nicholson at 740-264-6238. Branch 13 Trenton, NJ by Elsie H. Radvany Branch 13 held its annual meeting and family Christmas party on Dec. 5 at the Hungarian Reformed Church auditorium in Trenton. Branch President Frank J. Unanimously elected were: Mr. Radvany, president; John Radvany, Ed.D., vice president; Elsie H. Radvany, secretary; Anthony C. Beke, treasurer; and Dr. Eileen Smith, auditor. Arlene Gordon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Radvany, duly installed the newly elected officers.
