Branch News Branch 10 Barton, OH Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH Branch 248 Monaville, WV Branch 349 Weirton, WV Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH Hello from the WPA branches from Barton, Martins Ferry, Weirton, Steubenville and Monaville! Our branches had a few projects going for the annual Join Hands Day on Saturday, May 1. We had a great time with each of our projects. The first involved Branch 8164 Steubenville. Our members collected children's books to donate to the Neighborhood House Child Day Care Center in downtown Steubenville. The Neighborhood House is a responsible, caring, fun and clean location to take children when parents or guardians must be at work during the day. Marie Zumpano, the director, and Miss Barbie, one of the employees, were so pleased to get the books for their children and want to thank everyone who donated to this service project. We will highlight another of our projects in next month's edition of William Penn Life. Don't forget: Monday, May 31, is Memorial Day. So fly your flag proudly! Keep in your prayers those who served in the military in past wars and conflicts, those who gave their lives while in the service and those who are currently in the armed forces here and abroad. For information about branch activities, please call Joyce Nicholson at 740-264-6238. Next Deadline May 21 Miss Barbie (left), an employee of the Neighborhood House Child Day Care Center in Steubenville, Ohio, accepts a donation of children's books from Joyce Nicholson on behalf of Branch 8164 Steubenville. The donation was made in conjunction with Join Hands Day. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 will again participate in Join Hands Day by donating $1,000 toward the purchase of respiratory care equipment for the Hattie Larlham Foundation. As was mentioned in last month's branch article, this non-profit organization serves more than 1,500 children and adults in Northeastern Ohio with developmental disabilities. Special thanks to our generous Home Office for donating an additional $500 to this worthy cause. Our branch members continue to be people of high achievement. Congratulations to the Rev. Dr. Csaba Krasznai who earned his doctoral degree in ministry studies from Ashland Theological Seminary in January 2010. The topic of his dissertation was: "Equipping Pastors to Train Lay Leaders for Ministry in a Small Group Setting in the American Hungarian Reformed Churches." Born in Eger, Hungary, Rev. Dr. Krasznai realized his calling to the service of God in his high school years. He decided to apply to the Reformed Theological Academy in Debrecen and graduated from Debrecen Reformed Theological University in 1998, earning a master of divinity degree. After his theological studies, he was awarded a scholarship from the Dr. Tibor Chikes Memorial Foundation to study at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He earned a master of theological studies degree and graduated summa cum laude. During that time, he was also the co-pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Washington, D.C. where he served with the late Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan. He then served at the Hungarian United Church of Toronto after which he returned Continued on Page 23 20 0 May 2010 0 William Penn Life
