JOHN VERES, JR. HALLANDALE, FL - The members of Branch 590 Cape Coral, Fla., were saddened by the recent death of fellow branch member John Veres Jr. Mr. Veres, 81, passed away on March 25, 2009. He was bom April 23, 1927, in Monaville, W.Va., the son of the late John and Agnes Veres. He attended Logan High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946, serving in China. He attended automotive school in Chicago and owned and operated auto repair shops. Mr. Veres was well known in the American Hungarian community for his Hungarian music. He played violin with his brothers, Paul of Bedford, Ohio, and the late Mike. The three formed a band before they were teens. John moved to Cleveland in 1949, then to Florida in 1966, residing in Cape Coral before moving to Hollywood, Fla., where he continued playing the music he loved and making many people happy. In addition to his brother, he is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Louise Wagner Veres; a son, John; a daughter-in-law, Gloriamaria; a granddaughter, Ivanna Gabriella of Houston; a sister, Agnes of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
