Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank A special Happy Valentine's Day wish to all on Feb. 14. You know, life gets so busy sometimes that we even forget to tell special people in our lives just how much they mean to us. This Valentine's Day, drop a card to those special people and remind them how much you care. I am sure they will be very happy. Congratulations from Branch 800 to the Home Office and all members on the WPA's 123rd anniversary on Founders Day, Feb. 21. Branch 800 members and families enjoyed a real nice Christmas party this past December. The 22 children who attended were thankful for their gifts from Santa Claus. We thank the Home Office for the monetary help, along with the WPA calendars and carol booklets which were quite handy when it came time to sing carols. All 54 adults in attendance received a gift from the branch. Daylight savings time begins this year at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. We spring forward one hour. This puts us in the right direction for spring. The Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on Feb. 25. Lent is a time for Christians to prepare for Easter by fasting, offering penance and praying. Call Bob Jones in Altoona at 814- 942-2661 if you need any help with your WPA life insurance or annuity policies. Bob can help with things such as changes of beneficiaries or the latest information on WPA plans to help your family. Bob is always willing and ready to help you.
