Branch News go out to the family of Elmer Toth. We will miss him. We wish all our members and their families a Happy Thanksgiving. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank A joyful Thanksgiving Day to all! Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for so many people. It truly is a family day; a day for getting together, for feasting, for reminiscing and for giving thanks for all that we have. Turkey with all the trimmings is the traditional feast for this day. May you enjoy yours. We encourage branch members and their families to attend our branch's 71st annual Memorial Mass for our deceased members. It will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Altoona, with the Rev. Dennis Kurdziel as celebrant. Please bring a non-perishable food item for the poor. Two branch members will be celebrating their 80th birthday in November: Louis Fanelli, who tells me he enjoys exercising, and Frances Kessler, who enjoyed water walking at the YMCA. Both believe in exercising. May God bless you both. Veterans Day marks the armistice of World War I, when the guns fell silent on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Let us remember on Nov. 11 all those who fought and sacrificed so much for our nation in all wars. Please remember Rosella Greiner in your prayers. She is the mother of branch officers David and Daniel, and we pray for her full recovery. We encourage all members to attend our next branch meeting on Dec. 2, at 7:00 p.m. during which we will elect branch officers for the year 2009. Please come and participate. All of our branch hunters are waiting for the opening day of deer season, which begins on Monday, Dec. 1. We wish you all the best of luck. Branch 800's Christmas party will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the cathedral in Altoona. Please enter via the side door in the alley next to the hall. There are no steps if you enter through this door. Call me at 814- 695-0213 to make your reservations. Deadline is Dec. 1. Members, families, friends and children are all welcome to attend.
