Branch News Mrs. Claus to visit. The children took the opportunity to sit on Santa's lap to tell him of their wish lists. Goodie bags were distributed to all children in attendance. The light-up tambourines from the Home Office were a big hit, along with all of the other items. The afternoon was topped off with a delicious buffet, complete with Christmas cookies. Much thanks to the Home Office and Board of Directors for the financial assistance and promotional items. President Balia offered thanks to all who gave of their time and talent to make this year's party successful. Congratulations to Tyler Balia, quarterback of the Ar-Ken Falcons football team. Tyler and his teammates won in the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Bulldogs, which led them to the championship game against McKeesport, where they won in overtime. The next game was the Super Bowl championship against Swissvale, where the Falcons were down 12-0 and came back in exciting fashion to win the game in overtime, becoming the Super Bowl and IYFL 130 Pound Champions. Tyler is the son of Ron and Audra Balia and the grandson of Ron and Patty Balia. Way to go, Tyler and the Falcons! Patty Balia has received her first assignment with Chemo Angels, "a volunteer organization that is dedicated to adding a ray of sunshine to the lives of those undergoing IV chemo treatment." Patty will be writing letters of encouragement to a cancer patient as they are going through a challenging time. Patty discovered Chemo Angels on the "Charitable and Volunteer" links on the WPA website. A delicious meal was enjoyed by all, and the surprise bag of gifts from the Home Office brought smiles to all. Due to the bad weather we have in January and February, the meetings for those months are cancelled. We wish all a happy new year. William Penn Life, January 2008 19
