Branch News Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 held its regular meeting Wednesday, Sept. 12, and it was refreshing to see many new faces. Branch President Caroline Lanzara presented a summary of events which took place at the WPA General Convention, and she congratulated Branch 14 Delegates Erin Ward and Richard Sarosi for being elected as alternates for the Board of Directors. The annual children's Christmas party will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church in Walton Hills. Children will receive invitations, but all Branch 14 members are welcome to attend. The open house will include refreshments, entertainment, and, of course, Santa, who will be there all afternoon with wonderful gifts for the children. This annual event grows every year with the ever-increasing membership of Branch 14. Branch 14 welcomes the following new members: Robert Elam, Brady Vargo, Cade LaRosa, Charli Sayre, and Everett Varga. Please contact the Ward Agency at 440-838-1200 with any prospective new members and earn referral fees. Congratulations to the following Branch 14 first-time scholarship recipients: Dustin Carney, Carl Hiteman, Michael Murphy, Alexandra Tabor, Karyn War go, and Kristin Wargo. The scholarship program is just one of the many advantages that distinguishes William Penn from other insurance companies. We would love to hear progress reports from all of our scholarship recipients. We are very proud of you! Dr. Julius Z. Nadas, 101 years old, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2,2007. Dr. Nadas was a past president of our sister branch, Branch 45. He was very influential in Cleveland and throughout the world by serving as the president of the Hungarian Association of Cleveland. This organization hosts an annual meeting every Thanksgiving weekend in Cleveland. Worldrenowned lecturers, musicians, artists, and writers from many countries attend every year to promote Hungarian culture. Dr. Nadas, a legend in the Cleveland Hungarian community, is survived by his wife Ibolya; children Julius, John and Julie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. The next Branch 14 meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, Ohio. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House What a wonderful Convention. Thank you to all the National Officers, Home Office employees and National Directors who worked so hard to make this a well-run convention. Very special thanks to all the branches who sent such wonderful delegates. Your delegates worked very hard to make sure the Convention was one of the very best ever. Thank you for all your hard work.
