___________The Hungarian Kitchen with Főszakács Béla 2005 A very good year FÁRADJON BE A MAGYAR KONYHÁBA. As I look back on this year, I can only recall very good memories of the things done in the Hungarian Kitchen. While I didn't accomplish everything I had planned to do, I did complete some projects that provided some happiness to the membership. The Hungarian Heritage Experience at Penn Scenic View was a success, and I'm glad I was given the opportunity to share my talents with those who attended. Who could ever forget all the farm-fresh produce we enjoyed, along with the fellowship and fraternalism? It was quite the week, and the weather was perfect! For the first time, I was able to attend the WPA Picnic, and, once again, the weather was great...and so was the fraternalism. Just being at Penn Scenic View getting ready for the event was exciting for me. The day got even better when I saw how many members came for a day of fellowship with one another. It makes one feel real proud to be a member of an association with a strong membership. I tip my chef's toque to all of you that made the picnic a great success. With all you great members supporting our fraternal activities, it's no wonder the William Penn Association is so successful! Before the year started off, Chef Vilmos and I made a decision to do as much as we could for the members. I personally tried to make myself available for all the events I could. Along the way I made some new friends and rediscovered some old friendships all in the name of fraternalism. I will mention that the cookbook project is 100 percent complete. The book is in the hands of the printers. There were some technical delays but they have all been worked out. This project took a little over a year, and it was time well invested for the good of the WPA members. Fraternalism is a powerful thing. Once you get involved and see what good it does, you don't want to stop. If I had to describe fraternalism, I would say it's a way of life where you care more about the next person than yourself. Need I say more? You give your time and talents because the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Just think back to the 13 Hungarian coalminers that thought more of each other than of themselves. It is that kind of thinking that will keep the WPA on the cutting edge of fraternal associations. All that said, let me wish you the best this coming holiday season. May you enjoy the blessings of Christmas and the prosperity of the coming new year. And now by request, here are some of the most popular recipes that were printed in the Hungarian Kitchen during the last two years. Enjoy them with your family, friends and neighbors in the spirit of the holiday season. See you all next year in 2006 with much more from the Hungarian Kitchen. All the best to you and yours!
