Branch News are fewer and fewer people who are able and willing to do the work needed. We sadly miss our many members and friends who have passed on, particularly Richard Dyuraki and Joseph Kassan. The Club is indebted to them both for their many years of devoted service. If you have celebrated a birthday recently, we wish to send you belated greetings. If your birthday is coming soon, we wish you all the best. We pray that you all had a wonderful holiday and will enjoy many blessings in the new year. Do not forget that our monthly meetings are held on the last Friday of each month at the Hungarian Club. Let us know if you have any news that you would like to share. If you or someone you know is interested in life insurance or annuities, please call Jack Tokár at 215-357-4516. Branch 129 _ Columbus, OH _ by Árpád Sibrik On Dec. 8 we held our branch meeting and elected officers for the year 2005. Our officers are: Margie Boso, president; Art Bartfay, vice president; Margaret Leonardo, secretary; Priscilla Sibrik, treasurer; and Debbie Lewis and Diana Walker, auditors. Congratulations to all and good luck in the coming year. The Christmas party was a great success. There were about 150 members, guests and children present. The food was delicious, which was catered by the Hungarian Reformed Church and the Cultural Club. Santa came at 3:00 p.m. and gave the children stockings filled with goodies donated by the Home Office, and a monetary gift from the branch. Several lucky guests won door prizes. The Gegenheimer girls played Christmas music on their violins. Afterwards, several girls led the guests in singing Christmas carols. Thank you, girls. You made the day. The hall at American Legion Post 144 was great. There was plenty of room for everyone and no steps for the older members to climb. My wife, Priscilla, underwent laser surgery recently. The surgeon said everything is fine. The Hungarian Church Cultural Club is making spicy sausage and hurka for sale in mid-January. With a sad heart, I must report that member Helen Spanovich passed away at the age of 101, and Karoly Nagy, president and treasurer of the Cultural Club, also passed away. Our condolences to their families. For your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Arpad Sibrik at 614-231-8024, or write to him at 645 S. Kellner Road, Columbus, OH 43209. Our next branch meeting will be held March 9 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 365 Woodrow Ave., Columbus. Branch 132 _ South Bend, IN by Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. I am sorry to announce that one of our members and a former Branch 132 officer, Albert "Bud" Strom, has passed away. Please keep him, his wife Margaret and children Jack and Jill in your prayers. We held our branch children's Christmas party on Saturday Dec. 11. The food was good at Saylor's Pizza as usual. We had gifts and door prizes for all present. It was good visiting with the parents and the youngsters. We hope everyone enjoyed a very Merry Christmas. I guess we do okay with the party. One parent told me that the children have been asking about the party for two months. The 2005 branch picnic is firm for Aug. 7 at Potawatomie Park in South Bend. We have reserved Pavillion No. 1. Everyone seems to think that that's the best spot. The officers wish you and your family all the best in the New Year. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Goldie J. Szarka Bolgod Új Évet Kívánunk Mindenkinek. Happy New Year is wished to everyone. Hope your Christmas holiday was a memorable one. Now that we are in the new year, we wish all our members and their families a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2005. Our annual Christmas party was held Sunday, Dec. 5. We had great weather—no rain or snow—and a very good turnout. Branch President Joe Szarka greeted guests at the door. Everyone socialized briefly before the entertainment began. We watched a talented young man perform a puppet show for the children. The children screamed and laughed with glee and amazement. Our faithful Santa Claus arrived from the North Pole on time. First, he listened to the children's Christmas wishes. Then gifts were distributed to the children. It was nice seeing so many friends and acquaintances. I had the pleasure of meeting Donald and Jacelyn Strom and their adorable little son, Duston. Jacelyn was wearing a beautiful gold necklace featuring a "300" charm, designating the bowling score she racked up during the William Penn bowling league. Nice work! Congratulations! The party buffet was absolutely delicious, consisting of breaded chicken, potatoes au gratin, rigatoni, cold cuts and cheese, a relish tray, fruit salad, an assortment of gelatin desserts and a lovely Christmasthemed cake. As guests were leaving, many commented on how much they enjoyed themselves and the food. Happy birthday greetings go out to Julia Genes (Jan. 28) and Violet Lenart (Jan. 29) and to all other January celebrants. Get well wishes and prayers to all our shut-ins, especially Mike Benedict, who is in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Sincere condolences are extended to the Sladics family of White Oak Boro. Louis Sladics passed away Nov. 25,2004, at the age of 84. Louis had been an avid bowler with the WPA Bowling League. May he rest in eternal peace. New officers for the year 2005 are: Joseph Szarka, president; Goldie William Penn Life, January 2005 17
