Branch News our wonderful members. I hope you are all better real soon. I have been asked by some of our dancing members if our branch could change our meeting days. It seems many of our members are dancers and could not attend meetings on weekends. Your branch officers also thought it would be a good idea to change our meeting days. So, we will now meet on Wednesdays beginning on March 10. This will free up our weekends. The meeting schedule for the remainder of the year will be April 14, May 12, June 9, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. All meetings will be held at the American Hungarian Reformed Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please join us. Our annual family Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Nov. 28. We also will celebrate our 50-year member banquet on Sunday, Nov. 7. There, now you have a good list of things we are doing for the year. I had the pleasure of joining several fellow members in attending the recent White Rose Ball. Thank you, Home Office, for your support of this wonderful annual event. Thank you also to all you wonderful members who support this event. Events like the White Rose Ball would cease to exist without your support. Remember, even though I am in Florida, I can be easily reached to help you with your life insurance and annuity needs. Also, let me know if you have any news you would like to share with your fellow WPA members. You can call me in Florida at 321-676-2194. You can also call my number in Michigan. I retrieve my messages daily. Stay healthy and think spring. We'll be thinking of you. Thank you, mom and Rudy for taking care of our home and all our many animals. Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn B. Bodnar Due to the snow and illness, our Christmas party was sparcely attended. Our entertainer cancelled, but Santa came and devoted his time to the children. The children were thrilled with the gifts they received. The caterers came and provided a nice meal. We enjoyed our supper and the fellowship. We also held our election of branch officers for 2004. Reelected were: the Rev. Joseph Bodnar, president; Ruth Vasvary, vice president; Evelyn B. Bodnar, secretary-treasurer; and Albert Suldo and Melissa Miller, auditors. Congratulations and best wishes to our branch officers. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak We hope spring will be with us soon. I am sure most of us in the northeastern states have experienced enough of old man winter this year. Believing that it's never too early to plan ahead, Branch 28 will be scheduling another bus trip to the WPA Picnic to be held Saturday, Sept. 11. We already have members requesting reservations, so give us a call if you are interested in joining us. You will be contacted when we finalize the details. The Youngstown American Hungarian Federation will once again be hosting a program to commemorate the events of the 1848 Hungarian war of independence. The program will be held on Sunday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Youngstown Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave. This year's featured speaker will be WPA Membership Activities Manager Endre Csornán. Congratulations to all those celebrating a birthday or anniversary this month. Special good wishes go out to Grandma Aczel on her birthday. We extend get well wishes to all those experiencing some health problems. Special thoughts go out to Branch 28 President Steve Novak who recently underwent his second total knee replacement. Here's hoping for a wonderful recovery and better days ahead for everyone. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all those who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one. A reminder: our next meeting will be held on Monday, March 15. Watch the local papers for more details. For inquiries about life insurance or annuities, please call Alan Szabó at 330-482-9994 or Kathy Novak at 330- 746-7704. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Branch 129 Columbus, OH by Árpád Sibrik Branch 129 will host a regular business meeting on Wednesday, March 10. Our February meeting was cancelled; it was too cold and there was too much ice and snow making it too hard for our members to make it to the meeting. We hope the weather will be better in March. Several of our members were ill in January. Steve Rezes fell and had to be hospitalized. My wife, Priscilla, had a golf ball sized tumor removed from her head. She is undergoing physical therapy twice a week. She is getting better and is experiencing few effects following her operation. Priscilla received many get well cards and asked me to thank all those who sent her their good wishes. Also, Elizabeth Pate was involved in a very serious car accident. She is still in the hospital at this writing. We all hope she will be better soon. Ferenc Relle was recently ill with a high fever and was in Riverside Hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. The Hungarian Reformed Church has a new minister, Rev. Otvos who came to us from Toronto, Canada. The congregation likes him very much. He received his education in Debrecen, Hungary. On Feb. 8, the Hungarian church was the scene for a hurka and kolbász dinner sponsored by the cultural club. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the delicious meal. Happy belated birthday wishes to Steve Rezes who celebrated his 90th on Feb. 12. We wish him many more. We are hoping that spring will be here soon, and the ice and snow will be gone.
