Branch News We have been on the move all spring. We attended a dinner, concert and dance on May 22 in Passaic, N.J. The affair was held at the Hungarian Reformed Church. The concert was by Lagzi Lajcsig Szuperbuli. On June 5 we attended the 29th Hungarian Festival in New Brunswick. It was also the 100th anniversary of St. Ladislaus R.C. Church. We wish them another 100 years. The entire city joins in. The streets are closed off. There are tents with Hungarian products and delicious Hungarian pastries and foods. The entertainment was great. This is a place to meet old friends. We are not the only ones on the move from our branch. Hedwig and Joe Baumgartner just returned from a trip to the Emerald Isle, which they really enjoyed. Margaret and Joe Király are also on the road. They are going home to visit family and friends in Europe. We wish them a safe trip. Endre and Arlene Csornán, their children and grandchildren are touring Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia and Romania. We hope their dream trip will be up to their expectations. God be with you all. Congratulations to Jennifer and Mark Tomaskovic on the birth of their first child, a boy, Kyle Mark, (he weighed 12 pounds at birth). His proud grandparents are Helen and Bob Tomaskovic. (Helen, also my best friend forever, the other sister). Welcome to our new member Kyle. A get well wish to Frank Zimmermann. Please pray for him and all our sick members. Dates to remember include the WPA Annual Golf Tournament, July 24, Harrisburg, PA. We hope to be there if all goes well. Mark Sept. 11 on your calendar, the day of the WPA Picnic at Penn Scenic View in Pennsylvania. Besides the good Hungarian food, there is something for everyone: dancing, Chinese auction, fabulous prizes. There is children's entertainment, roasting bacon on a stick (szalonna sütés), and meeting people from all over the country. Pray for good weather. If you have any questions about WPA products, contact Arthur Barillo at 856-678-8987. Now I know I am getting old. Our children surprised us with a 45th wedding anniversary dinner without us suspecting anything. Things have certainly changed, I used to plan all the surprise parties. Branch 76 Philadelphia, PA by Jack Tokár A great big "hello" to all the members of the WPA, with special greetings for all members of Branch 76.1 hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. The Philadelphia Hungarian Club on Southampton Road in northeast Philadelphia celebrated Memorial Day with a picnic on Sunday, May 30. The picnic began with a memorial service lead by Tibor Pavlansky. Flowers were placed on the memorial in honor of all American and Hungarian soldiers. Both the American and Hungarian national anthems were sung. As always, the picnic included delicious food and pastries. We send a very special greeting to the Harta family-Gyongi, Zoltán and their sons—for being such loyal WPA members. Our best wishes go out to Margaret Tatalajski, who we hope has recovered from her illness. Another "get well" goes to Shirley Demaria. We hope that her daughter Cady is having a great summer. A special "hello" to Rosalie Gogos. I will call you again soon. Congratulations to Aranka Mezei on being elected treasurer of the Philadelphia Hungarian Club. Also, we send a heartfelt welcome to Tamas Kinyo, who became a WPA member. Greetings to the Fogarsi family, particularly Robert and his son. We also welcome Armand and Laura DeVoe, the music people from Lansdale, back from their winter sojourn in Florida. I send special greetings to Barbara House of the Detroit area. I always like to read the news from her area, since my grandfather and parents used to live around there. I used to live nearby in Windsor, Ontario. Everyone at the Hungarian Club was saddened recently by the death of Williu Pen Lite, July 2004 21
