Hope all of our WPA readers had a wonderful and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and roasted some good Hungarian szalonna. I know we did, and it tasted so good. Remember to fly your American Flag on June 6, D-Day, and on June 14, Flag Day. It's such a nice way of expressing our love for our country and freedom. Birthday wishes to all of our June celebrants and belated birthday greetings to Belinda O'Keson and Malvene Heyz. I know a lot of you will be celebrating Father's Day (June 20), weddings, anniversaries, communions, confirmations and graduations in June. Happy and healthy days to all of you and enjoy your special day to the max. Get well wishes are being sent out to Julia Genes who had a nasty fall recently. Hope your recovery will be short and successful. The monthly dance at the McKeesport Hungarian Social Club will be held June 5. The club is located at 3004 Walnut St., McKeesport. It's not too early to mark your calendars for Hungarian Day at Kennywood Park on Aug. 4. The annual McKeesport International Village will be held Aug. 17 to 19 at Renziehausen Park. Torma Flope everyone had a wonderful time at the Annual Bowling Tournament in Cleveland. It's always a lot of fun and a great fund-raising weekend for the Scholarship Foundation. Thanks to everyone for your generosity in supporting the Scholarship Foundation through donations, bowling lane sponsorships, raffle ticket purchases and Chinese auction participation. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL by Joan Mauemnan Branch 590 held a meeting May 6 at the Harborview Country Club in Charlotte Harbor, Fla. Winners of our scholarship raffle were Anthony Beke, Joseph Bartha and Barbara House. Thanks to all who supported us in this important fund raiser. Krisztina Pingkzer was the winner of the Mother's Day prize, and Lutzie Pingkzer was the winner of the Father's Day prize. Door prize winners were Anna Bartha and Vi Shinski. Our half-andhalf winners were Kalman Nagy, Irene Franko and Helen Toth. Thanks to our bakers Julia Nagy, Irene Franko, Vi Shinski and Helen Rosner. We also thank Ilona Schmidt for the gelatine dessert. Congratulations to Sarina Mauerman on being elected president of her third grade class at Sheridan School in Boardman, Ohio. Sarina is quite an artist. One of her paintings was displayed at Southern Park Mall in Boardman. Another of her paintings will be on display at the Canfield Fairgrounds in Canfield, Ohio, this September. Her brother David is an accomplished artist as well, as are her cousins Tim and Kevin Meehan and Chris Damon. We welcome new member Sophie Yuhasz, granddaughter of Antal and Ilona Schmidt. Our condolences to the families of Mary Mekler and Andy Pálinkás, both of whom passed away recently. May they rest in peace.
