We wish you many, many more. I received a lot of cards for my July birthday, which my mom and I celebrated in Florida. Thank you all for remembering me. Florida was wonderful, heat and all. I could get used to that kind of living. While there, we spent time with my daughter and her family, who recently bought a new home in Cocoa. We also took a five generations picture while we were together. I can't believe I am a great-grandmother. Where does the time go? Please pray for all our deceased members, especially Joe Nagy, husband of Helen Nagy. May he rest in peace. Pray also for the soul of Lou Roka, Branch 214 coordinator, officer and convention delegate for many Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak We're looking forward to the WPA Picnic. It will be here before we know it. Also, the General Convention will have been held. We hope both are as successful as all WPA events are. Just a reminder that Hungarian Heritage Day will be held Sunday, Sept. 7. This annual event is hosted by the Youngstown American Hungarian Club. For more information, call the Club at 330-799-6112. During a recent conversation with Katherine Freedy, I learned about the wonderful scholastic accomplishments of her granddaughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Verckey. This very proud grandmother informed me that Betsy attended Ashland College then transferred to America University in Washington, D.C., to complete her degree in psychology. While studying at America University, she was chosen as one of 40 students throughout the U.S. to study and participate in an internship in London, England. Upon graduation, Betsy moved to Colorado where she worked for a year at Woman magazine writing monthly articles. She is currently attending Ohio University on a scholarship, pursuing her masters degree in journalism. Her family is strongly Hungarian oriented. They settled in America in the early 1950's, and with the help of the Rev. Msgr. Deszo Torok, relocated to the Youngstown area. We wish Betsy much success in achieving her goals. Get well wishes go out to all those not feeling quite up to par, especially Irene Aczel. Sincere condolences to all those having recently lost a loved one. Special thoughts and prayers go out to Alan and Lori Szabó and family on the passing of Lori's father. We also remember the passing of Imre Fabo who was a very active member of the Youngstown area's Hungarian community. Wishing all the students returning to the classroom the best of luck. For your insurance needs, or to submit information for future branch articles, call Alan Szabó at 330-482- 9994 or Kathy Novak at 330-746-7704.
