Fax Fr tke Fele Whether it was making crafts while dressed in colorful Hungarian clothing, joining in a parade or getting a balloon from a clown, young members and guests enjoyed a fun afternoon. Summer Close-out Members come by the bus loads to enjoy the WPA’s second annual picnic by John S. Toth If you missed the WPA's Second Annual Picnic at Penn Scenic View, your missed a great, great time. Was it a success? You betcha! It was a very BIG success. A lot of work was involved, but it was well worth it. The weather was great. I heard someone say there were about 750 people there-more than twice the number that came last year! The food was excellent: gulyás, kolbász, cabbage and noodles, lecsó, szalonna sütés (bacon fry), hot dogs, hamburgers, langos and pastries. The kids were a sight, watching them march through the tent during a tribute to the victims of 9/11. It was a little on the emotional side. The kids also had fun in the kids' comer and craft tent. The clowns were wonderful with the kids and adults. It was nice to see some of the kids shooting basketball, too. The band, Dorothy & Co., was super. The hayride was fun and gave folks a good tour of Scenic View. Rose Antal took home more than $1,100 as the winner of the 50/50 raffle. The Chinese auction and its dozens of prize baskets attracted a lot of interest...and funds for our Scholarship Foundation. No one was happier to win one of these prize baskets than my nephew, Christopher. The picnic was fratemalism at its best. I got to see some old friends and make new ones as always. People came from near and far. Bus loads of members came from Youngstown, Detroit and Dayton. We hope you all Fax F r zoe.■ruont 10 IVilliiim Penn life, November 2002
