i upcoming surgery. Hurry back. I miss you. Hi to Steve and Anna Nagy who are wintering in Arizona. Much love to you from us at Branch 18. Congratulations to Deac Sabo. On Dec. 8, 2001, he marked the 60th anniversary of his enlistment in the Marine Corps. He is still active in all their reunions all over the country. We now hold our branch meetings at the American Hungarian Reformed Church at 7:00 p.m. The next few meetings are scheduled for Jan. 4, Feb. 15 and March 15. Our card party will be held April 7. Mark your calendars. Our Charity-of-the-Month continues to be the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation. We donate $100 every month in memory of our deceased members. Please remember the scholarship foundation. It truly is a worthy cause. We are leaving for Florida soon. We should be gone five weeks or so. I wish all of you a happy and healthy winter season. Branch 26 Sharon, PA by Gerry Davenport On Dec. 8, Branch 26 held its family Christmas party at Holy Trinity Church in Farrell, Pa. Milnes the Magician performed and kept the audience in awe with his mystifying tricks. A luncheon was served, featuring delicious kolbász, hot dogs, baked beans, salads and homemade pastries. Jolly ole Santa Claus made his entrance. The children, as well as a few adults, sat on Santa's lap and told him what they wished for on Christmas Day. All the children received goodie bags filled with fruit, candy and treats donated by the Home Office. Many thanks to Betty Panin and Branch I8’s officers prepare to be swore in. They are: (l-r) Betty Holguin, vice president; Carol Truesdell, treasurer; Rose Antal, secretary; Tom House, auditor; Barbara House, president; Douglas Truesdell, auditor; and Rey Holguin, auditor. (Not pictured: Ernie Mayoros, alternate auditor.) her helpers Marjorie Szabó, Ceil Light and Helen Tutusko who did an excellent job with the food preparations. You are very special. On Dec. 16, Branch President Julius Szabó passed away following a brief illness. Our sorrow and prayers are extended to his wife Marjorie and family. May he rest in peace. Branch 26 members wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe 2002. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis This will be a year that we will never forget. With the attacks in New York and Washington and our service men and woman placed in harms way, our world did change in September. Let us give thanks to the people that protect us—police, firefighters, EMS and our troops here and abroad. We will embrace each other more closely, forget petty differences, pray a little harder and be thankful for the opportunities that our great nation gives us. On behalf of the officers and members of Branch 34,1 would like to wish a happy, healthy and safe New Year to all WPA members and their families. At Jameson's Restaurant on Dec. 8, our branch was joined by Branch 71 Duquesne, Pa., to celebrate the annual family Christmas party. The 109 members that attended the party were entertained by a singing Mrs. Claus. The children played various instruments and accompanied Mrs. Claus in singing Christmas carols. As the children entertained themselves with the bag of gifts from the Home Office, they participated in a number of games for which prizes were awarded. After lunch was served, the children joined their voices in singing "Jingle Bells" as our special guest, Santa Claus, arrived. It was truly a sight to remember, seeing the different reactions of the children when Santa entered the room. Some ran for cover (their mom or dad); others ran straight for the big guy with their eyes as big as softballs. Santa sat and talked with each child and asked what they would like for Christmas. Then his "elves" passed out gifts of candy and envelopes to all the children. Both Branch 34 and Branch 71 would like to extend a very special thanks to the Board of Directors and the Home Office staff for making this holiday season so exceptional for our young members. Special thanks go out to WPA Membership Activities Manager Endre Csornán and his wife Arlene for attending our party. I would also like to thank the following branch members for their assistance in making our Christmas party such a success: National Director Mike Kara, Miriam Hager, Terri Varas, 14 Williui Prnn Life, January 2002
