Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Congratulations to all the lucky winners at this year's bowling tournament. As always, the Home Office provided the means for a wonderful gathering that Akron hosted very nicely. It was wonderful to see everyone again. Please keep in mind the WPA picnic at Penn Scenic View on Saturday, Sept. 14. Branch 28 is planning on a bus trip to attend. The cost per person will depend on the number of people making reservations. Please call Steve Novak at 330- 746-7704 to add your name to the list for this trip. Our Christmas raffle tickets are ready to be circulated by branch members. This raffle is a major branch fund-raiser which will allow us to make a donation to the WPA's scholarship foundation. Special thanks to National Director Michael Tomcsak for donating a 24-inch Hungarian doll for one of the prizes. For more information on these tickets, call Mary Schauer at 330-549-2935 or me (Kathy Novak) at 330-746-7704. Special congratulations go out to Mikhenan (Mikhi) Horvath (below) who graduated from Austintown Fitch High School this June. She has been selected for the special Neoucom program at Youngstown State University to pursue her career in medicine. While in high school, she was a three-year speech team member, a fouryear track team member, a four-year letterwinner in gymnastics and a four-year football cheerleader. Mikhi was president of the National Honor Society and 2001 football homecoming queen. She is the daughter of James and Cary Horvath, sister of Jim and Dustin, and granddaughter of Robert and Evelyn Horvath. Sincere best wishes to all those celebrating a birthday this month, especially Branch 28 Vice President Frank Schauer, Larry Santha (95th) and John Kaluczky (86th). Also, happy anniversary to those marking another happy year together in June. Happy retirement to Frank Schauer. It's hard to believe he's giving up his career at the Malaboro Corp. located near Alliance, Ohio, for a life of travel, a visit to Hungary, activities in the Hungarian community, gardening, mechanical repairs, computer time and many other special times to be shared with family and friends. Much enjoyment, Frank. You deserve it! Best of luck to those attending the upcoming golf tournament. Unfortunately, a family wedding will prevent me from attending. For answers to your life insurance questions, call Alan Szabó at 330- 482-9944 or me at 330-746-7704. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis With the bowling tournament in Akron behind us, we are now looking forward to summer. Keep in mind the fraternal activities scheduled this year, such as Join Hands Day, the golf tournament, the Hungarian Festival in New Jersey and various branch activities. Check out the William Penn Life for detailed information of this year's activities. Let us not forget graduation (high school and college). This is the time of year our young members will have to make many decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. Please keep us informed of what our young members are doing by calling one of the phone numbers at the end of this article. We at Branch 34 wish a Happy Father's Day to all our members. If you are fortunate enough to still have your father, give him a call. It will make his day! Please remember in your prayers the fathers that are no longer with us. Think back to when you were a kid. Your dad was larger than life; when you walked with him your hand was lost in his, and you knew that you were always safe. When you were hurt you went to Hillinin I’rim Lite, June 2002 19
