Thanks to the Home Office, we had a beautiful, well-attended party with lots of good food, pastries and refreshments enjoyed by all. A big thank you to the members of the Cultural Club of the Hungarian church for catering the delicious meal. Santa was a big hit with the children, passing out candy and goodies, along with $5 to each member age 15 and under. The children made themselves and their parents and grandparents proud, with the beautiful music they played at the party. Anneliese, Gabriella and Brigitta Gegenheimer, along with their uncle, Dr. Atilla Relle, did a beautiful job on the violin. Our granddaughter, Rachel Clise, played several songs on the flute. Our thanks to all of them for sharing their talents with us. Hope to have you all back next year. On Dec. 13, our branch elected the following as officers for the year 2001: Margie Boso, president; Terry Albert, vice president; Margaret Leonardo, secretary; Priscilla Sibrik, treasurer; Irene Voss, auditor; and Linda Albert, auditor. Good luck to all the new officers. Our heartfelt condolences to the Boso and George families on the death of our dear friends, Charles Boso and David George. They were the husband and father of Margie Boso. May they rest in peace. The next branch meeting will be on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 365 E. Woodrow Ave. For any life insurance or annuity needs, please call Arpad Sibrik at (614) 231-8024, or write him at 645 S. Kellner Road, Columbus, OH 43209. Santa distributes gifts to the members of the choir which entertained guests attending Branch 8114’s annual Christmas party. Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Anne Marie Schmidt The officers of Branch 249 would like to extend to all of our members a wish for a healthy and prosperous new year. Special regards go out to those who may be struggling with health issues or personal problems. So far, this has been a busy and successful season for our branch. We started with our fall cabbage roll sales with orders exceeding 1,000 cabbage rolls. This event, while starting as a fund raising project, has almost turned into a service project for our customers. During this busy age we live in, it is a relief for someone else to prepare this wonderful dish for us. Once again we are sponsoring a local bowling league at Pla-Mor Lanes in Dayton, and we have several teams who look forward to bowling together on Sunday afternoons. Although many of our members and former bowlers are unable to make this regular bowling commitment, we hope you will consider joining us for the Annual Bowling Tournament on Memorial Day weekend in Toledo. In December we gathered together at St. Stephen's Church Hall for the annual Christmas party. The party was very well attended and enjoyed by all. The usual sausage dinner was served, and, of course, holiday cookies were shared. For entertainment, Robin Kennedy organized the youth to make holiday crafts, while the adults played bingo for nice prizes. After singing "Jingle Bells" the sound of reindeer hooves were heard and the "Jolly Ole Elf" himself appeared. What a wonderful way to continue the holiday season! Congratulations to the reelected officers of our branch: Anne Kertesz, president; John Horvath, vice president; Anne Marie Schmidt, secretarytreasurer; Mary Ann Kabel, auditor; and Mark Schmidt, auditor. We look forward to serving our members diligently in the coming year and welcome any suggestions you may have for branch activities and enhancements. Please remember, for your life insurance and annuity needs, contact Steve or Michele LaFlame at (937) 278-5970 and they will be happy to assist you. Ililliim Penn Life, February 2001
