For Starters. ’Day From the desk of the National President Happy Founders by George S. Charles, Jr. On Feb. 21,2000, our Association will celebrate its 114th anniversary. Your dedication, loyalty and commitment to our goals is based on our many years of progress generated by thousands of dedicated people who were determined to move forward. We must continue to support programs within our branches that are designed to bring members together more closely in the bonds of brotherly love. Our continued objective is to build fraternal programs at the local and national levels that will attract prospective members to our organization. We must continue to grow to the limit of our capacity for the sake of progress. We also have an obligation to continue to promote leadership skills so as to ensure a bright future for our Association. All of us realize how important it is that our youth be given a chance to possess leadership skills. By helping and promoting our members, we are helping to better our Association. Our Association has been fortunate in that we have many members of all ages involved in our many programs and activities. We have an excellent working fraternal team. Our officers, directors and Home Office staff contribute their talents to the ideals upon which the William Penn Association was built: providing financial security for our members, preserving and promoting the Hungarian cultural heritage, and serving our communities through charitable and benevolent work. Today, our Association has more than 42,000 life members and is licensed in 19 states. Our members can be proud of its accomplishments, as well as its financial stability. Our life insurance portfolio is comparable with the commercial insurance industry and it is constantly being updated to meet the changing needs of our entire membership. Our fraternal spirit is still glowing like the spirit in the hearts of the founders of our Association more than 114 years ago. It is with pride that your leadership is moving toward the future with the same spirit, loyalty, enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by our forefathers. This is in the hope and expectation that all of you will help in the endeavor and join the team to build a stronger society for future generations. I Employees mark decades of experience THAT’S A QUESTION YOU MAY not have asked yourself very often, if ever. But, it’s one you should ask yourself at least once a year. We can’t stress enough the importance of regularly checking the beneficiaries listed on your life insurance policies. It is the only way to ensure that the people you want to receive the benefits of your life insurance are the ones who will receive it Think about the changes that have occurred in your life since you purchased your life insurance. Getting married, having children, losing a loved one, getting divorced, getting remarried-all these life changes affect your responsibilities. Do the beneficiaries currently listed on your life insurance policies reflect such changes? If you think you need to update the beneficiaries listed on your policies--either primary or secondary beneficiaries—contact your WPA representative. Or, call our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366. PITTSBURGH - As we begin a new decade, it seems appropriate that we recognize two Home Office employees who can mark their time served in decades. Congratulations to Charlotte Mozga in Membership Services who marked the end of her second decade (or the beginning of her third, depending on your perspective) with the WPA on Jan. 2,2000. We also send best wishes out to Steve Evans of the Treasury Department, who will celebrate his first decade of employment at the Home Office on March 12. 2 Williaa fill Lift, February 2000
