Operation Christmas Child 2000 Update As of late June, the WPA passed the half-way mark towards its goal of collecting 400 gift-filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. To date, you have sent us 251 shoe boxes. You’ve pushed us over the hump, now we need one more good shove to get us home. We invite you, your family, your branch, your friends, your neighbors and anyone you can think of to join us in delivering “hope in a shoe box" this Christmas to children living in crisis situations around the world. The best part is, it’s really easy. All you need to do is either: 1) fill an old shoe box with things such as small toys, personal items, school supplies and items of clothing; 2) donate such items which we will then pack in shoe boxes here; or 3) donate money which we can use to buy items (make checks payable to “William Penn Association”). All donations must be received at the Home Office by Sept 15. If you’re going to the golf tournament, bring your donations with you. Or, you can take your donation to any one of Operation Christmas Child’s 114 collection centers nationwide. For the location nearest you, call (828) 262-1980. For more information on how to prepare your shoe box, please see our March 2000 issue, or call the Home Office toll-free at 1-800- 848-7366.
