Branch 129 Columbus, OH By Árpád Sibrik Branch 129 Coordinator On Dec. 9 the branch held its meet­ing and election of officers. Elected were: Marge Boso, president; Terry Albert, vice president; Priscilla Sibrik, treasurer; Margaret Leonardo, secretary; and Linda Albert and Irene Voss, auditors. Congratulations to all the officers. About 225 children and adults attended our branch’s family Christmas party held Dec. 12. The party featured a delicious meal of cabbage rolls, kolbász, breaded fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, sauerkraut, pastries and refresh­ments. After dinner, Camille Kovach and her friend provided beautiful Christmas music. Santa came and gave out gifts to the chil­dren and $5 bills to branch mem­bers 15 years of age and under. Everyone enjoyed the WPA calen­dars. Thanks to the Home Office for the monetary help and the gifts it provided; they helped make the party a success. Thanks also to the Hungarian Reformed Church Cul­tural Association for catering our party. We hope you will do it for our 1999 party. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and many get well cards following my open heart sur­gery. They made my recovery faster. I had to go back to the hos­pital for eight days, during which I received shots and pills to dissolve blood clots in my lungs and left leg. Holiday baskets were distributed the week before Christmas. Every­one involved sends their special thanks. The family Christmas party was held Dec. 5 at the McDonald’s Res­taurant in Emmaus, Pa. About 30 children and parents gathered to celebrate together. Lunch was served to all of the children in at­tendance. Santa Claus arrived while we sang “Jingle Bells,” and he dis­tributed gifts to everyone. During the fellowship period, Christmas carols were sung and games were played. Everyone sang “happy birthday” to Jesus and then ate cake and ice cream. A good time was had by all. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA By Dianne A. Charles Branch 352 Reporter Our holiday party at Sports Haven Bowl in Bridgeville was a huge suc­cess. Everyone looked as if they enjoyed the afternoon of bowling and fraternal fim. The catered lunch was delicious, and our special guest, Santa (Jim Deak), arrived just in the nick of time to hand out gifts to the children. Our thanks to everyone who helped to organize our party. Our thanks also to the Home Office for its gifts and gen­erous party allotment that make this party possible. To all who brought canned goods and nonperishable items to the party, we thank you. Congratulations to Steve Charles, a sophomore at Chartiers Valley High School on completing his volunteer work. He was busy in the months of November and De­cember making up and delivering flyers, collecting items, wrapping gifts and distributing the donations. He picked as his charity the Crafton Ingram Community Food Pantry and Bethlehem Haven (a homeless shelter in Pittsburgh). Besides col­lecting nonperishable goods and wish list items, he collected 181 gifts that he wrapped and delivered to the homeless shelter. Good work, Steve. You should be very proud of yourself for all of your hard work. I know we are very proud of you. Justin McKinsey, a Chartiers Valley High School senior, is a photo contest winner. He entered a nature photo and it was chosen to be published in the Library of Pho­tography. Way to go, Justin! We would like to say a special hello to Sara McKinsey, an inter­national economics and finance major studying at the University of Turin in Turino, Italy. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL By Joan Mauerman Branch 590 Reporter Branch 590 had a beautiful day for its January meeting in Egret Hall. It was close to 80 degrees. The winner of the half-and-half raffle was Irene Slauterbeck. Door prize winners were Irene Franko, Vi Timmer Shinski and Bill Becze. Kalman Nagy was the winner of the bingo coverall.
