community. He enjoyed hunting. When in good health he attended all the meetings and took an active part in working on all the branch's social activities. He surely will be missed. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Turnbull as celebrant. Committal was held at Calvary Cemetery in Altoona. We are looking forward to seeing all those who have made reservations for the branch's summer outing on Aug. 4 at Highland Park in Altoona. We will resume our branch meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 7. We hope more members may be able to attend and help in planning our activities for the remainder of the year. All members are welcome. Try to make an extra effort to attend. Labor Day falls on Sept. 6 this year. Have an enjoyable day on this last summer holiday. This will be a pretty active time of the year, with school resuming and lots of baseball and football games going on. After taking care of some routine business, we signed birthday and get well cards for some of our members and friends. We made final plans for our picnic to be held Aug. 1 at St. Marys annex. We all feel bad that our spiritual advisor, Father Jude, will be leaving St. Marys Parish. He has accepted a new assignment at a young boys school. We all loved Father Jude and will miss him. After the business portion of the meeting, we enjoyed a social featuring good food and good conversation. Talk of the heat and the wonderful cool spell took up most of our evening.
