Branch 129 Columbus, OH By Arpad Sibrik Branch 129 Coordinator A picture perfect day greeted 84 golfers at the magnificent Turnberry Golf Course July 13 for the Association’s 13th Annual Golf Tournament. Everyone had a wonderful time. Sorry to say that the beautiful white 1996 Mercury Sable had to be driven back to the Bob Boyd Mercury dealership, since no one had a hole-in-one on the third hole. Congratulations to low gross winners Dorothy Costantini and Michael Varhelyi, low net winners Viola Matyas and Columbus’ own John Horvath Jr., and the winners of the skill shots. The Friday night hospitality reception was a great success. The lovely food and luscious Hungarian pastries made everyone’s mouths water. The Saturday night banquet of chicken breast and beef combination was excellent. The carrot cake for dessert hit the spot. The winner of the Ping Zing golf clubs during the auction raffle was Vice Chairman of the Board Elmer Furedy. We hope the new clubs will help him lower his score a few strokes. Congratulations, Elmer. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Home Office staff for all their help and support. Our thanks also go to Nick Scarpetti and his crew at Turnberry, Jack Sangalio at the Bob Boyd Mercury dealership and the staff at the Holiday Inn-Columbus East for the fine accommodations. We also thank the ladies of the Women’s Guild at the Hungarian Reformed Church for all the delicious pastries and our own Piri Sibrik for baking and tastefully arranging the pastries and delivering them to the hotel. Our August branch meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 1591 Lockbourne Road.
