Ward Branch 14 Reporter At the Branch 14 meeting held March 13, it was decided that the branch will sponsor two outings this summer. The first one will be at Geauga Lake Park, Sunday, June 23. Two new attractions at the park are an inverted roller coaster called the "Mind Eraser” and a white water raft ride called the "Grizzly Run.” All tickets are advance sale and may be purchased by sending the form found at the bottom of this page to the Ward Agency, along with a check made payable to "William Penn Association.” Regular price admission to Geauga Lake is $19.99. The tremendous discount offered to members of Branch 14 is one of the many benefits of belonging to William Penn! Branch 14 will also sponsor a Lake Erie cruise to Put-in-Bay and Kelley’s Island July 31, which includes a hot lunch buffet. It departs at 9:30 a.m. from Sandusky. The regular prices of $32.50 for adults, $29.95 for senior citizens and $16.50 for children will each be discounted one half for Branch 14 members. Branch 14 has a limited number of tickets to the Rock-’n-Roll Hall of Fame and Museum available to its members at half price. They may be used any day during the next 12 months. House National Director Happy and Blessed Easter wishes to you and your loved ones. Here in Michigan it seems that spring has made a very welcome arrival. Spring reminds me that the bowling tournament is right around the corner. If you would like to join a team or just bowl in the single or doubles events, please contact me and I will help you with the proper forms. We send a special William Penn welcome to eight new members of the Helen and Ernie Molnár family: Olin, Sky, Loren, Kyle, Elizabeth, Denis, Ashley and Christine. They are missed. Congratulations to Krisztina Ann Elizabeth Kortvesi. After much study and hard work, she was confirmed at a special ceremony at Holy Cross Hungarian R. C. Church. The Most Rev. György Jakubinyi, archbishop of the Diocese of Gyulafehervar, Hungary, was the main celebrant, assisted by our own Fathers Barnabas and Angelus. March 3, 1996, will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you to all who made this such a special event. Congratulations also to Branch 18 member David Wolfe who was recently honored by Loris (S.C.) High School for his academic achievements. David also received his first year letterman award and is a color guard commander of the Loris High School R.O.T.C. He is the son of Debbie and Glenn Wolfe and the grandson of Irene Korpák. David, Debbie and Irene are all members of Branch 22’s Scott Cole, inducted into "Who’s Who.” Branch 18. Branch 22 Roebling, NJ Congratulations to Branch 22 member Scott Cole who was inducted into the "Who’s Who Among High School Students.” In addition to the many accelerated academic classes he takes, Branch I8’s David Wolfe, honored for academic achievements. Scott, a junior at Florence Township Memorial High School, pursues extra-curricular activities which reflect his interests in history, government and law. He recently won second place in a school "Voice of Democracy” essay competition. He is also a member of the "Mock Trial” competition group, which competes against other schools in the area re-enacting trial cases. Most recently, he was chosen as one of 400 students from across the country to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., a week-long look at what’s happening behind the scenes in our nation’s capital. However, we are most proud to report that Scott was recently awarded the Eagle Scout award— the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America. This was the culmination of many years of devotion to the scouting program. A dinner was held in his honor with invited guests and members of his scout troup. Scott’s sister, Sarah Cole, also a member of Branch 22, was recently recognized with high academic honors at Florence Township Memorial High School. A freshman, Sarah received all A’s and B’s. In addition to the many accelerated courses she takes, she is also pursuing classes which reflect her artistic talent. She has already won first place in a local art gallery competition. Sarah has been a member of the color guard in the school marching band for three years. Recently, the band was awarded first place at the Cadet Marching Band Cooperative’s competition held in Giants Stadium. Both barah and Scott are the children of Branch President Dale Cole and the grandchildren of the late Zoltán B. Emri. The workshop will be held at St. Ann’s worship site hall, 4735 Chatsworth Avenue, located off Second Avenue in the Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh. Translating written materials from Hungarian to English or vice versa, answering questions about Hungarian culture or assisting you with a favorite recipe are just some of the services we can provide. The workshop will be open to all William Penn Association members, regardless of branch.
