Total figures reported by NFCA members include 77.5 million hours of community service (up 16 percent) and 14.3 million fraternal acts (up 27 percent). If measured in dollars, this service is valued at more than $940 million. The NFCA is comprised of 90 fraternal benefit societies—including the William Penn Association—with membership of nearly 10 million fraternalists, making the NFCA one of the continent’s largest volunteer networks. Each year NFCA members report the fraternal acts, hours and expenditures of their local lodges and branches. The following figures were reported by NFCA member-societies’ 43,166 local lodges as of Dec. 31, 1994: Fraternal Acts of Service - 14,309,708: includes volunteer outreach by members on behalf of their society to handicapped persons, food pantries, hospitals, Habitat for Humanity, crisis centers, nursing homes, disaster relief, recycling/environmental programs, scouting, Big Brother/ Big Sister programs, etc. Fraternal Hours of Service - 77,578,955: includes the specific amount of time for each act of service performed on behalf of the society. Fraternal Expenditures - $289,5 75,951: includes monies spent to operate local lodges and monies disbursed to members, non-members, community agencies or religious organizations on behalf of the society. Disbursements include food/clothing contributions to disaster victims, scholarships, donations to community outreach services, hospitals, camps or shelters, sponsoring ethnic performance groups, etc. The NFCA has been recognized over the past three years by the American Society of Association Executives for its award-winning disaster relief service and support to Habitat for Humanity. Fraternal benefit societies have a rich tradition of conducting programs and projects of value to individuals, communities and the nation. Sixty-eight percent of NFCA member-societies were organized prior to 1900, with some dating to the mid-1800s. Cecilia T. Kessler 6.00 8014 Joseph F. Quinn 7.00 Mildred M. Shurmatz 5.00 8020 Kelly L.
