From July 30 to Aug. 5, the William Penn will conduct an intense, one-week Hungarian lan­guage workshop at its beautiful facilities at Penn Scenic View, located southeast of Pittsburgh in Rockwood, Pa. The camp will be open to life-benefit members of the William Penn age 18 or older. Tentative plans call for instruc­tion to be offered on both begin­ners and intermediate levels. The level (or levels) of instruction will be determined by the needs of those members expressing a sincere interest in attending the camp. Participants will receive a total of 25 hours of instruction in practical usage of the Hungarian language. The workshop will be limited to 25 students to allow for greater individual attention and more opportunities for use­ful exercises. The week will begin Sunday, July 30, with registration for all students at Scenic View. Students will be asked to arrive Sunday afternoon because classes will begin early Monday morning. From Monday through Friday, students will start their day with breakfast then meet for instruc­tion. After a lunch break, stu­dents will reconvene for an after­noon class. After dinner each day, all in­structors and students will gather for special social activities, offer­ing students more chances to practice their new skills. The cost for the week—includ­ing lodging, all meals, instruction and workshop materials—is only $200 per person. Clean linen and towels will be provided. Deadline for reservations is July 1. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come/first-served basis. Those whose reservations are received after the class has been filled will have the option of being placed on a waiting list in the order in which their reserva­tions were received. A limited number of double rooms will be available on a first­­come/ first-served basis. All other students will be housed in dormi­tory style accommodations. To reserve your space in our camp, complete the from that will appear in next month’s issue and send it to the Home Office. A deposit of $50 per person will be required. Celebrating 109 Years of Fraternal Service WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION Founded February 21, 1886 PITTSBURGH — While much of our members’ attention is fo­cused on the upcoming annual bowling tournament, we would like to remind all William Penn golfers that the 12th Annual Wil­liam Penn Association Golf Tournament will be held Satur­day, July 22. This year’s tournament will be played on the 18 holes of the Tam O’Shanter Golf Course lo­cated in West Middlesex, Pa. Hotel accommodations for the event will be at the nearby Radis­­son Hotel (formerly the Ramada Inn). Tournament activities will be­gin Friday, July 21, with a golfers reception that evening at the hotel. The reception will feature the popular putting contest for the benefit of the Association’s scholarship foundation, plus plenty of free food and refresh­ments. The first foursome will tee off early Saturday morning, and all golfers will enjoy free refresh­ments at the end of nine holes. Along the course, golfers will have the chance to compete in various skill shot contests. Once again, the prize all will be shooting for is the new car that will be given away to each eligible member who scores a hole-in­­one on the specially designated par-3 hole. To be eligible for the hole-in-one prize, a golfer must be a life-benefit member of the William Penn Association with at least one year’s premium paid. On Saturday evening, golfers and guests will gather at the hotel for the annual golf awards dinner, featuring the fun and exciting auction raffle for a new set of golf clubs. There will also be plenty of free door prizes given away. More information and a regi­stration form will appear in future issues of the William Penn Life. Pittsburgh readies to welcome bowlers to annual tournament PITTSBURGH — The count­down to the 52nd Annual Wil­liam Penn Association Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days has begun, and members and branches across the country are busy arranging teams and making plans to attend this fun­­filled fraternal event. Information, entry forms and tournament rules and regulations were to be mailed to all branches in early March. The tournament and scholar­ship days will be held over the Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 28, in Pittsburgh. Hotel accommodations for bowlers and guests will be at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh, while all bowling events will take place at Princess Lanes in nearby Whitehall, Pa. The hotel will also serve as the site for the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Associa­tion Scholarship Foundation, to be held Friday, May 26. Following the meeting, a spe­cial reception for bowlers and guests will be held in the hotel, featuring plenty of free food and refreshments. The bowling events will begin Saturday morning, May 27, with the five-man and five-woman team competition. Free bus trans­portation between the hotel and bowling lanes will be provided both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will also be the day when bowlers will be hoping to roll a perfect 300 game, for any qualifying member that does dur­ing the team event can win an extra $10,000. To be eligible for the $ 10,000 prize, a bowler must be a life­­benefit member of the William Penn Association by April 1, 1995, with at least one year’s premium paid. If two or more eligible members each roll a 300 during the team event, then the $10,000 prize will be divided equally amongst the winners. Whether or not anyone wins the $10,000 prize, the annual Scholarship Dinner-Dance on Saturday evening at the hotel will be a fun, fraternal event everyone will enjoy. The evening will begin with a NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Adventurous William Penn members and friends of the Asso­ciation are making plans to join one of two exciting and memor­able tours to Hungary and Aus­tria being sponsored by the Association. The first of the two tours will run from June 15 to 29; the second from Sept. 7 to 21. Both tours offer identical itineraries, so participants will share the same experiences and enjoy the same breathtaking sights no matter which of the two tours they take. Both tours will begin with a two-night stay in Vienna, Austria, offering ample time to see the highlights of this beautiful city on the Danube. Features of our stay in Vienna will include visits social hour followed by dinner, a free door prize drawing, live music and dancing. The next day bowlers will re­turn to Princess Lanes for the singles and doubles events. Bowlers should note that the tournament is being sponsored under the moral support sanction of the ABC and WIBC with high score recognition. We hope that all William Penn members will consider joining us for what promises to be a great weekend. Even if you don’t win the $10,000, you will leave the tournament with priceless mem­ories and new friendships.
