Branch 590 member Betty Bartus and her husband Steve celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6 Branch 51 Passaic, NJ By Arthur Barillo Branch 51 President With summer long gone and Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is hard to believe that the holiday season will be with us soon. It seems as if it were yesterday that we were complaining about those hot July days. At our recent branch meeting the officers finalized plans for our branch’s annual family Christmas party and annual election of officers. Both events will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the American- Hungarian Citizens Club, 21 New Schley St., Garfield, N.J. The election of officers will be held at 2:00 p.m., and the party will begin at 3:00 p.m. The party will feature entertainment, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus. So, children, bring your parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles to our Christmas party. Like we said: it’s a family Christmas party. On behalf of all the branch officers and members, we wish everyone a very happy and bountiful Thanksgiving holiday. Anyone needing directions to the club should call (201) 471- 9852 after 6:00 p.m. Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Anne Marie Schmidt Branch 249 Secretary-Treasurer We returned to our schedule of regular monthly meetings on Oct. 8. It was great to see everyone and to catch up on the news of the summer. We are happy to have Branch President Steve Horvath active again. Dayton was well represented at the Association’s annual bowling tournament held in New Jersey in May. Congratulations to all the winners. Everyone had a fun time, and we look forward to next year’s tournament. Mrs. Kertesz announced that she enjoyed a wonderful trip to Hungary with the William Penn. She expressed her sincere appreciation and was honored to join Board Chairman Joseph P. Arvay in placing a wreath on the tomb of Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty in Esztergom. Our prayers are extended to all of our members who have been ill during the summer and to the families of those who have departed. Barney Kinder is now in a nursing home, and we send him our sincerest regards. Local bowling resumed Oct. 16 at Capri Lanes.
