Although several thousand miles from the country of Hungary, the chapel along with a symbolic graveyard tells the history of the country and serves as a memorial to Hungarian heroes ot the past. The Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation opened the chapel in 1981 and dedicated it to the memory of those who died in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. The chapel also stands as a memorial to Hungarians who were politically persecuted, victims of Communism and the Nazis, heroes of World War II and other renowned Hungarians. The word "tabor” means "camp” in Hungarian. Thus, the Berkeley Springs site seemed like a natural setting for the Hungarian Mount Tabor Park, which Golfers, guests enjoy 11th annual golf tournament The Alba Regia Chapel, located near Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was dedicated in 1981 to the memory of the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fighters. The park is used as a weekend camp as well as a site for church services, picnic socials, baptisms, weddings and funerals. On July 10 of this year, a special service was held at the chapel to honor three clergymen— the Revs. Stephen Sziartó, József Zalotay and Vitéz Báan—who have served as chaplains at Alba Regia Chapel. Representing the William Penn Association at this service were National President E. E. Vargo and National Director Elmer W. Toth. Built in the style of a Hungarian village church, the chapel contains stained-glass windows and hand-carved woodwork throughout. The chapels ceiling is decorated with bright paintings of the historical coat-of-arms of each of Hungary’s counties. Richard shot a 78 and Heather a 79 during the 18-hole tournament held July 16 at the Venango Trail Golf Club in Warrendale. The two members of Branch 45 Cleveland also won the low gross titles in 1992. Heather Preston enjoyed a particularly impressive round as she also won the longest putt and closest to the pin skill shot contests. She and her father were among 104 golfers who participated in the Association’s 11th annual tournament. Joining the Prestons in the winners’ circle were Bernard Drab, Leo Hannah and Stephen Pronai who tied for the men’s low net title with identical scores of 70, and Betty Glance who won the women’s low net title with a score of 73. Others who took home prizes as the winners of the skill shot contests held during tournament play were: Jim Szuch and Elsie Drab who placed their shots closest to the line; Dick Hoover who was closest to the pin; Steve Cummings and Helen Francus who hit the longest drives; and Bud Spraley who sunk the longest putt. The only prize that went unclaimed was the 1994 Mercury Cougar which awaited the member who scored a hole-in-one on hole #4. No one scored the required ace, so the car went back to the showroom. That minor disappointment, however, failed to dampen the spirits of all those who participated in the weekend’s activities. From Friday evening’s reception and putting contest through Saturday evening’s banquet, good friends and fellow fraternalists enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Saturday’s golf awards dinner at the Sheraton Inn-Pittsburgh North featured a delicious prime rib dinner and a door prize drawing with dozens of free prizes. After all the golfing awards, door prizes and raffle prizes were distributed, it was time for the fun and excitement of the annual auction raffle for a new set of Ping golf clubs and bag. One by one the contestants were selected, and one by one they were elimi-Continued on Page 2 The father-daughter team of Richard and Heather Preston, both Branch 45 members, captured the low gross titles at this year’s golf tournament.
