Brigich, vice president-members services of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America, was recently honored as the Fraternalist of the Year by the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh. A banquet was held in his honor April 30 at the Hyatt Regency-Pittsburgh. A lifelong member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Mr. Brigich was elected president of his lodge in Canonsburg, Pa., in 1952 at the age of 20, and has held that post for more than 40 years. He became a member of the national board of trustees in 1965 and was reelected to that position at three successive conventions. In 1978 he was elected director of members services. His title was changed to vice presidentmembers services in 1983. Active for many years in the United CFU Lodges of Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland Counties, he now serves Continued from Page 7 Foundation. For all your insurance needs call Michael Tomcsak at (813) 858-8071. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Our branch lost one of its most beloved members when Leo Yeager,81,died April6,1994,at Altoona Hospital. Leo always attended our meetings and social affairs when his health permitted, and he always looked forward to these events. He received his 50- year membership pin last year. He was buried from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Altoona. May he rest in peace. Ronald Crookshank, 70, a member for 29 years and past secretary of the former Catholic Knights of St. George Branch 103 at St. Mark’s Parish in Altoona, also passed away recently at Altoona Hospital following a brief illness. He was buried from St. Mark’s Catholic Church. May his soul rest in peace. Summer weather is on its way, and that means our branch meetings will be in recess for the months of June, July and August. After a hard winter, everyone will surely live these months to the fullest. At our April meeting, Paul Masic agreed to serve as chairman for our August corn boil. Bob as president of that organization and was honored by the four counties as its Man of the Year. He is also active in the United Lodges of Western Pennsylvania. He lent equipment and many man hours during the reconstruction of the Croatian Center near Millvale, Pa. His fraternal service extends beyond his own society. He is a past president of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh and is active in the affairs of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress and the National Fraternal Congress of America. His all-CFU family includes his wife Louise; their three children, Karen Randall, Kathleen Sharkady and Joseph Jr.; sons-inlaw Gary and Paul; and grandchildren Christopher and Brianna Sharkady and Mackenzie Randall. The William Penn Association joins in congratulating Brother Brigich on receiving this award. Aikens will serve as co-chairman. A get well card for George Keller was signed by all the members in attendance. George, you can be assured of our prayers during your illness. Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8. It is hoped that this day will be a very pleasant and enjoyable one for all mothers. As we approach Memorial Day on May 30, let us not forget our beloved dead who have gone before us. It is a wholesome and very charitable thing to do to remember them in our prayers. Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH William Penn Branch 8164 members recently attended Mass at St. Anthony Church with the Rev. Edmund Silva celebrating, and later met for a meeting in the rectory hall. Branch President Vincent Lopresto opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Albert DiFalco gave the treasurer’s report. Michel Vecchione, president emeritus, back from a San Diego vacation, spoke on getting more members to attend meetings, and it was agreed that a few regular members should phone or make personal contact with other members and urge them to attend the meetings after Mass. National Director Louis Fodor is still on the sick list, but is doing very well and should be with us again very soon. The meeting was a short one since several of the women were to attend a bridal shower. It was good to see Branch Auditor Isabella Vatrella at the meeting after her operation. We were also pleased to welcome Francesca Veltri. Our next branch meeting will be held on May 8. Endre J. Desics, Jr. 0336 HARRISBURG, PA 8350 COPLAY, PA John S.
